Transporters' Plea: A Call to Action I recently received an update from one of our transporter regarding their Non-Cooperation Campaign, highlighting three critical issues that demand our attention: 1. Empty Containers Storage Yard Issues: Inefficient management of storage yards leads to unnecessary delays and costs. A. Collection of offloading charges at empty yards of shipping lines which amounts from 2500-6000. This blocks their working capital . The amount can easily be collected by the shipping lines while issuing the DOs to the importer or the CHA. B: time taken to load an empty export container or unload an empty import container is now taking 10-16 hours and truckers are forced to go from one yard to another 2. Deteriorating Road Conditions on Gujarat- Maharashtra Highways: Poor road infrastructure threatens the safety of drivers and goods. The road conditions of gujarat and nashik highways are so pathetic that it takes 24-36 hours to cover a distance of 130 km. 3. Misuse of E-Challans by RTO: Unfair penalties hinder the transporters' ability to operate smoothly. Unquote => As a logistics professional, I deeply empathize with the struggles of truck drivers who are facing numerous challenges, including unreasonable charges. The pain points of our transporters are genuine and deserve consideration. As we rely on them to keep our economy moving, it's essential we address these challenges together & there will be effect on the entire supply chain. It's important that we acknowledge their struggles and work towards a swift resolution. We must collaborate with stakeholders to address these concerns, ensure fair treatment, and create a more sustainable and efficient logistics ecosystem.
