People often ask me, "Why didn't you just switch roles within Amazon?" "Who leaves Amazon?" or say things like, "You shouldn’t have quit," and "Be wise next time." But leaving Amazon was a careful and intentional decision, and undoubtedly very hard too. My time there was invaluable - I learned amazing skills in leadership, setting professional boundaries, and balancing work with life, and I met one of the best people there so far. However, as much as I valued my experience, I began to realized that I wanted more. I wanted “that” something to work directly with clients, manage projects, lead teams, and take on new challenges that would push me further. Staying in the same place, even one as great as Amazon, could have led me to settle into a comfort zone. And comfort, I’ve learned, can sometimes lead to “complacency” my friend. That’s why I believe, -change is good. -taking risks is necessary for growth. And anyway I will always take the leverage of being an Amazonian once. 🌟 My Amazon Interview Experience for SDE I Role🌟 Recently, I had the opportunity to interview with AWS for a SDE I role. It all began when a recruiter reached out after I applied through the Amazon Jobs portal. After successfully passing an initial coding assessment, I was invited to proceed with the interview process. If you're interviewing or planning to interview at AWS here's what you need to know: Amazon Loop: The final rounds of the interviews all take place on the same day. I had three rounds of back-to-back interviews each about 45 mins - 1 hour with 1 hour break after the first two rounds. - Round 1 : Problem Solving (DSA, Coding) & Leadership Principles-based questions (LP's). - Round 2 : Problem Solving (Coding) & Leadership Principles-based questions (LP's). - Round 3 : Leadership Principles-based questions (LP's). One aspect that stood out was the supportive and professional nature of the entire interview process. The interviewers were not only insightful in their questions but also made a conscious effort to ensure I felt comfortable throughout. They checked in with me during each round, offering breaks to help me stay focused and at ease. The recruitment team was incredibly patient and responsive, providing clear guidance at every stage. Here are a few key things I learned: 1. Growth Happens in Unexpected Ways: While I didn’t receive the offer, the interview process gave me valuable opportunities to reflect on how I can better highlight my strengths and experiences. 2. Sharpening My Technical Skills: Preparing for the interviews helped me revisit critical concepts in data structures and algorithms, reinforcing the importance of continuously refining my technical skills. 3. Every “No” is Still a Step Forward: Although this opportunity didn’t pan out, I gained clarity and renewed motivation to keep pushing forward and refining my approach for future opportunities. 4. Amazon’s Culture: The interview process offered a glimpse into Amazon’s unique culture, which emphasizes ownership, customer obsession, and innovation. It’s a culture that deeply resonates with me, and one I’m excited to pursue in the future. Though it didn’t work out this time, I’m energized by what’s next and determined to keep improving. The journey itself, I’ve found, is often the most valuable part. For anyone else going through interviews, remember every experience, even the ones that don’t go as planned, is an opportunity to learn and grow. Keep pushing forward! 🚀💫 #AmazonInterview #AWS #newgrad #SoftwareEngineer #Interview #Learning #TechJourney
