🚧 Revitalising the Nea Odos Motorway: The Ultimate Solution! 🚧
After numerous repair attempts, including asphalt geogrid reinforcement, the Nea Odos Motorway in Greece faced persistent challenges. High traffic volumes and axle loads demanded a robust solution. Enter Cold in-place recycling with Bitumen Stabilised Material (BSM) – Watch our journey! 🌍🛣️
Welcome to the Neo Odos Motorway located in the eastern region of Greece. The section of motorway that will be discussed is situated between the two towns of Kamenova, Orla and Lumiere. The section considered for maintenance suffered severe failures such as asphalt deterioration, full depth cracking and pumping which led to a poor riding quality for the road users. Previous rehabilitation efforts such as using asphalt geogrid reinforcement were exercised to extend the service life of the road. However, due to high traffic volumes and above average axle loading failure, cracking continues to stay a problem. With the help of experienced engineers from Loudon International, cold in place recycling using foamed bitumen and bitumen stabilized material technology was proposed. The design put forth consisted of a 250mm BSM layer with the addition of 2% foamed bitumen and 1% cement. However with in place recycling variability in the layer. Brooks will remain the major key point influencing the strength and density of the BM. The in place recycling was carried out using a virgin W 240 CRI fitted with a 3.8 meter extended drum. This project was also the 1st in Greece to use a downward cutting recycler while recycling full lane width in one pass, minimizing the risk for longitudinal cracks forming within the wheel path. Boasting its revolutionary downward cutting technique, the W2. ODC RI continuously advanced at a speed of four meters per minute while producing 500 tons of BM per hour. To account for compaction settlement, the BSM was paved back at a higher level. The highest paving level recorded throughout construction was 370 millimeters. For this project, 212 ton double drum compaction rollers from HAM were used, followed by an 18 ton pneumatic tire roller to seal the surface. Included on the rollers from HAM was the latest. Compaction Tracking Technology Smart Dock This technology was used to track compaction passes and compaction changes. Using this software ensures that no unnecessary compaction is applied and that freshly paced material is not allowed to dry out. Through the partnership of Loudon International helmer, GK Gardener and Virgin, who served clients near Odos, the Cold in place recycling project was successfully executed, paving the way to a more sustainable future.

The Rain's Gift: A Temporary Solution to a Perennial Problem
As the rains grace our lands once again, there's a temporary sigh of relief among communities that struggle daily for access to water. For a fleeting moment, nature's bounty provides a lifeline, quenching the parched throats and nurturing the thirsty fields. But lurking beneath this temporary respite lies a harsh reality: when the rains fade away, so does the lifeline they bring.
In these marginalized communities, the rains serve as both a blessing and a curse. While they bring temporary relief, they also unveil the stark contrast between abundance and scarcity, between hope and despair. The sudden surge in water availability allows for basic needs to be met, from drinking to cooking, bathing to watering crops. But as the clouds disperse and the sun reigns once more, these communities are left stranded, grappling with the harsh truth of zero access to water.
Imagine the anguish of returning to a state of perpetual thirst, where every drop becomes a precious commodity fought for with every ounce of strength. The cycle repeats itself year after year, a relentless reminder of the fragility of life in these remote corners of our world.
Yet, amidst this cycle of despair, lies an opportunity for change. It's a call to action pull resources and knowledge, to extend a helping hand and break this cycle of dependence on erratic weather patterns. It's a reminder of the urgent need for sustainable solutions, for infrastructure that can withstand the test of time and provide reliable access to water, regardless of the season.

On a road trip to Umluj, i was lucky enough to find a breathtaking bright turquoise blue beach hidden along the red sea coast amongst dense mangroves. I had come across a friendly 🐪 shepherd as i drove in, who gave me fresh camels milk a common gesture of generosity and hospitality, i found a nice spot and boiled milk tea. I sat by the mangroves at awe, seeing dolphins and sea turtles swim in the distance, birds flying overhead, while a herd of camels graze along the coast! A magical combination only mother nature could dream up✨
In efforts to protect these treasures for years to come, Red Sea Globals Mangrove Nursery that aims to plant 50 million trees by 2030, announced last week an impressive capacity expansion to 1,000,000 trees, a part of the Saudi Green Initiative and support from المركز الوطني لتنمية الغطاء النباتي ومكافحة التصحر NCVC.
In Kenya, mangroves found protection through selling carbon credits to EU companies via carbon trading. This allowed their mangroves to thrive, with the model being adopted along the Kenyan coast and in neighboring countries.
A Public Investment Fund (PIF) and Saudi Tadawul Group company, RVCMC advanced the Saudi Green Initiative on a global scale, along with Nairobi Auction in Kenya last year in june, selling over 2.2 million tonnes of carbon credits for around USD 6.27 per ton at auction.
VCM also recently this April the selection of Xpansiv to launch a carbon credit exchange in Saudi Arabia. Steps like these allow these platforms to thrive by enabling impact investing and encouraging private sector participation.
These highlights are only the beginning of what’s to come as environmental conservation and business innovation intersect. 🌿🌍

Just informed that our great team of legal experts, with whom I had the pleasure of working with 3 years ago to recommend several Mangrove Reserves to the government will lead the efforts to develop a legal-regulatory framework to maintain and increase the resilience of Mangal ecosystems (this term is far more realistic and functional, as it also includes the brackish and freshwater wetland "sponges" that maintain healthy soil conditions for the mangrove "trees" to thrive) in areas like this spectacular 1000 Km2 area along the border with Venezuela, of which we proposed a 600Km2++ reserve ...https://lnkd.in/dJNKev3a

“If you’re planning to attend Fleadh Cheoil in Wexford this year, TFI Local Link Wexford has arranged transportation to and from carparks, similar to how TFI Local Link Longford Westmeath Roscommon provided transport during the Fleadh in Mullingar for 2022/23, with support from the National Transport Authority. Best wishes to my colleagues in Wexford from everyone in Longford Westmeath Roscommon.” 🎶🎻🚌
For those attending Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann in Wexford, it’s worth noting that the town is preparing for the largest event of its kind in the world, with planned road closures, one-way systems, and shuttle bus stops1. If possible, consider using public transport or carpooling to reduce your carbon footprint. 🌍🚗
Amidst the threat of expansion of extractive industry and climate change in the traditional territory of the Tobag Dayak sub-tribe. The indigenous people of Tanjung village should not continue to produce food crops to meet their food needs. while safeguarding and preserving customary areas that are still forested in a sustainable manner with local wisdom.
As a result of climate change, food agriculture is experiencing crop failures and there are changes to farming and farming schedules. To get to agricultural areas/community fields, where the majority are indigenous women and indigenous youth, use the river route. now a new threat has arrived, namely crocodiles.
Swamp crocodiles are a threat because the crocodile's habitat has been damaged by forest land-based extractive industries.
