To everybody Black ✊🏾: 👏🏾 You're doing it! 🙌🏾 Remember, success is not a sprint, it's a marathon. You don't need to hustle until you burnout. Our ancestors taught us the importance of consistent effort and rest along the way. "Caring for myself is not self-indulgence, it is self-preservation, and that is an act of political warfare." - Audre Lorde Every small step you take towards your goals adds up, leading you closer to your dreams. So embrace the journey, celebrate your progress, and keep moving forward one day at a time. And above all, remember our roots in the collective. Lean into your trusted community, community care, and mutual aid. We're not meant to do life in isolation. "Without community, there is no liberation..." - Audre Lorde ▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️ 📢 Speaking of #MutualAid, help me fund a mini-grant for Mutual Aid Distribution of Richmond, MADRVA. https://lnkd.in/e6wRaCbf MADRVA provides mutual aid services in Richmond through a free community market and a mini-grants program, prioritizing marginalized and vulnerable groups. You can help me fund a mini-grant by purchasing my affirmation coloring pages. 25% of the proceeds will go towards funding a MADRVA mini-grant. Let's sell 100 affirmation pages and get this mini-grant funded! 22 sold, 78 to go. #YoureDoingIt #MarathonNotSprint #BlackLeaders #ConsistentProgress #ThriveWithBalance #BHM #BlackHistoryMonth #BlackHistory #CareerSuccess #DiverseLeadership #affirmations

From Supreme Court cases to state-level legislation, the past year has brought unprecedented attacks on critical race theory, diversity, equity and inclusion, school curricula and the books available to the general public, as well as affirmative action. Our Black relatives in particular have borne the brunt of conservative “culture wars,” as they’ve been dubbed, which have left community leaders reeling and wondering how to launch not just a defensive strategy, but also a proactive one that asserts the possibilities for justice that lie through the strategies being dismantled. Our CHANGE Philanthropy partner, @ABFE, recently hosted their annual Harambee conference, which consisted of curated programming speaking to over 800 philanthropists on what they can do to meet the needs of this moment. “We must not be deterred or paralyzed in fear or confusion. Instead, we must stay focused on the goal of increasing resources to Black communities to build political and economic power; our communities are depending on us.” —Susan Taylor Batten, President and CEO of ABFE Read Inside Philanthropy’s article, “Three Ways Philanthropy Can Respond to Attacks on Affirmative Action, According to Black Leaders” to learn more ➡️ https://lnkd.in/eWa87dcK #AffirmativeAction #DiversityAndInclusion #DEI #AfricanAmerican #NativeAmerican #Philanthropy #Nonprofit #Equity #Inclusion

#FlashbackFriday Earlier this week, the Asian Pacific Fund was proud to join the California Black Freedom Fund, legal experts, advocates, and philanthropic leaders to launch the Legal Education, Advocacy, and Defense (LEAD) for Racial Justice Initiative. "Organizations dedicated to serving marginalized communities of color have long played a safety net role, countering systemic inequities through culturally competent support and capacity building. The Asian Pacific Fund is a proud supporter of the LEAD for Racial Justice Initiative. The Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander communities will not be used as a wedge against other communities of color. We are not immune from attacks and stand in solidarity with other racial justice organizations to navigate the path forward together,” - Carolyn Wang Kong, APF President and Executive Director. LEAD aims to provide robust and relevant legal education, and accessible tools to nonprofit organizations serving communities of color to help them fully understand the legal landscape and their ability to conduct and invest in vital racial justice work. Freedom has never been Free! Juneteenth is a significant holiday that commemorates the end of slavery in the United States. On June 19, 1865, enslaved people in Texas were finally informed of their freedom, two and a half years after President Abraham Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation. Despite progress, challenges persist, and it’s essential for all Americans to reflect on our history. Acknowledging our past, including its painful aspects, is crucial for growth and progress. By learning from history, we can strive to live up to our ideals and create a more equitable future. Celebrate today by learning more about Juneteemth, Patronizing Black owned businesses, Donate to Social Justice Organizations, Talk to your children about the importance of Advocacy & Allyship.
