Nearly 4 in 10 business leaders said layoffs are happening to replace workers with AI. "Because AI continues to be a reason for layoffs, take time to learn how to leverage AI in your position and which AI programs might impact your work the most." https://lnkd.in/gx2j-FTm Unfortunately, AI is starting to replace humans and it's a great time to expand our other skills. While AI is a great tool for companies, it's affecting more and more individuals. To prepare for the worst possible outcome, I went back to coaching weekends this week, and being around humans felt amazing. Maybe AI will one day be able to motivate you to get in shape but it will never empathize with a human... unless it needs an oil change and it develops feelings. 🤔 What I'm getting to is that as more companies decide to take the unethical route of "laying off" employees with little to no notice, it's time for people to find something they're good at outside their current jobs and explore that. We're more than worker bees and our passions can become an income source too. #FindYourWhy #AI

For all the hype, applied AI is still a small slice of company usage. There’s a new crop of strategists and experts as every hype cycle produces but the real heavy lifting will take solving problems and measurable outcomes. This is a clickbait headline that reflects the failure of the digital media evolution to gain and hold engagement. Remember when that was going to replace all the marketing jobs? We can do better this cycle. #aihype #hypecycle #clickbait

Well-known marketing professor and media impresario Scott Galloway has a theory as to what’s behind the layoffs: AI. The catch is many executives are hesitant to admit they’re laying off employees with the intent of replacing their jobs with artificial intelligence. "My thesis is that firms (notably tech companies) have also discovered a weight loss drug and are also being coy about it,” Galloway writes on his blog No Malice, No Mercy. "Recent financial news features two stories: layoffs and record profits. These are related.” My thoughts are that AI is and has already contribute to job attrition it's going to be another issue how companies are willing to convey that message.
All the tech layoffs are because AI is like ‘corporate Ozempic’—it trims the fat and you keep the fact you’re using it a secret, says marketing guru Scott Galloway

AI Layoffs Arriving Soon If your job can be easily replaced by current AI technology though, it might be time to worry. Nearly four in 10 business leaders said layoffs are happening to replace workers with AI. "Because AI continues to be a reason for layoffs, take time to learn how to leverage AI in your position and which AI programs might impact your work the most," Toothacre said. "Learn about them and become the 'go-to' person. You want to be the employee your manager can't imagine going on without." Steven Chizen, a California based employment attorney, said layoffs are typically based on some combination of business needs, job redundancy and performance. But there are still steps you can take to make your departure from your company less likely. "Workers should always ask themselves, 'How can I make myself indispensable?' Then, when an inevitable layoff arrives, they will be lower on the list of potentially impacted employees." Chizen told Newsweek. With the job market likely to be unstable in 2024, workers will still need to network and put feelers out in case they are indeed let go, Chizen added.
