⏰ Less than one week to the online workshop "Addressing Challenges and Unlocking Carbon Capture Utilization: Circular Carbon Advancement through Policy Reform"! The VIVALDI, CATCO2NVERS and CO2SMOS projects are organising a webinar on February 20, from 10 am to 12 pm, to discuss the challenges and barriers perceived across the three projects and possible solutions. In particular, what are the incentives needed to promote the uptake of alternative #carbonfeedstock in essential products. On the agenda, each project will present a different set of challenges: 1. Harnessing the benefits of alternative carbon feedstock for the production of plastics and chemicals. The topic will be introduced by CO2SMOS's partner Avantium. 2. Streamlining the regulatory approval requirements for bioconversion processes valorising captured biogenic carbon. The presentation will be held by Evyap, a partner of the CATCO2NVERS consortium. 3. Market opportunities and potential barriers for the market uptake of CO2-based products, which will be exposed by Isle Utilities, exploitation experts in the VIVALDI project. Following the project's presentations, Algreit D., Policy Officer at the European Commission, will present the "Transition pathway for the chemical industry" in Europe. Heading off for a little summer break to reflect on what has been achieved with the Fibenol team over the last 8 years in enabling industrial defossilisation of chemicals and materials production. It's time to clear and open mind for new perspectives and innovations ahead. #defossilisation It's clear that defossilisation is a long journey, but it definitely is a one-way track. In the past year alone, we sent out globally 1078 samples from 100g to 1-ton scale to 365 unique partners, including Universities, R&D institutes, Start-ups, SMEs, and large corporates. They are all seeking sustainable alternatives to address their #SCOPE3 emissions reduction to reach #NetZero targets. I will return in August with fresh energy and ideas to make a final push for 2024. We are well set to make it a year remembered in history books as the year when woody biomass #biorefineries derived sustainable raw materials were converted from niche to standard! One hint from the picture—our #Lignova #lignin is been made available for bulk truck deliveries as dry powder, allowing a switch to fully automatic industrial solutions. 🏗 PILLAR II delivered and installed at our VITO Sustainability Park 🎥 PILLAR II forms an extension to the LignoValue Pilot and will be used to treat and liquefy (bring into solution) the #lignin derived from #biomass such as wood so that this lignin-in-solvent solution can be supplied to the #LignoValuePilot, the catalytic reactor to convert lignin into high-quality and sustainable #bioaromatics. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐢𝐧? Lignin, abundant in nature, serves as a crucial building block for our endeavor. Derived from plant cell walls, it's set to revolutionise the chemical industry by offering a sustainable alternative to fossil-based compounds.
