By strategically hiring team members from outside our sector in addition to recruiting industry veterans, we benefit from gaining specialized skillsets, diverse experiences and fresh viewpoints as we innovate for our customers and reimagine industrial real estate at Link Logistics. As this hiring strategy has been key to our success, I was pleased to share my perspective in an article for Inc. This is a fantastic and much-needed article, Luke Petherbridge! I am constantly advising leaders to do just this, especially in the quest to drive diversity (of thought, gender, race, you-name-it). Thanks for this - I will be sending it around.

While this is great in theory, in practice you must develop a culture where training for the position and indoctrination of the *existing* team to these core values is necessary. My experience “from the outside” was not ideal as it was missing allyship and alignment from the top down.

Love this perspective! Thanks for sharing. Best practices, opportunity recognition, and risk management are all enhanced when you bring in folks from other industries—it definitely grows your org’s pattern recognition capabilities.

Yes, it's amazing what talent you can find when you don't settle for the first person you come across through your 'old' network. Look beyond!
