Today, on #EarthDay, we celebrate all the investments - large and small - we have made in sustainable practices that honor and protect the environment. Here are just a few ways we are staying green. * Soil scanners are employed for precise nutrient adjustments based on over 72 different soil characteristics, eliminating unnecessary fertilization. * Nutrient-dense cover crops are planted to help prevent soil erosion and add essential organic matter to the soil. * We are proudly Certified Bee Friendly through Xerces Society, boosting biodiversity for a resilient planet. * Today, 70% of our vineyards are dry farmed guided by weather stations and porometers that monitor environmental conditions. ⁠ * We have installed BioFiltro vermiculture system allowing us to conserve and reuse water. * In partnership with Sonoma County Wildlife Rescue, we maintain owl boxes across our vineyards to keep gophers at bay. * Powered by the sun, we run 100% of the estate on our own solar field. * Our gravity flow winery reduces our reliance on energy-intensive pumps to move grape juice. * 9,000 square feet of undergrown caves provide a naturally cool and stable environment for aging wines without constant energy-consuming temperature controls. * Certified Sustainable by Sonoma County Winegrowers and California Sustainable Winegrowing Alliance. We toast the beauty of nature, the bounty of the harvest, and the endless possibilities that come from working in harmony with the land.

Soils constitute a complex and still too often overlooked ecosystem. In total interdependence with water, biodiversity, and climate, our agriculture, as well as our economy and health, depend on their condition. Yet, more than 40% of soils on the planet are currently degraded. It is therefore urgent to act to protect and regenerate them. Naturally concerned about the sustainability of its various terroirs, Moët Hennessy has been committed for many years to the preservation of living soils and launched in 2022, as part of a collective initiative, the #WorldLivingSoilsForum, a gathering dedicated to the preservation, health, and regeneration of soils. The first edition brought together for 2 days all the communities involved, with over 100 internationally renowned experts, to create synergies, share knowledge, agree on methodologies and indicators for monitoring and impact assessment, in order to accelerate the transition. 🌍 Buitelaar Group's Sustainability Lead, James Watson, was recently invited as a panellist for the premier of the 'World Without Cows' documentary at the European Roundtable for Beef Sustainability in Poland. Privileged to be a part of the day, James emphasised that the beef industry isn't just a linear value chain but a vital nexus that supports biodiversity, soil health, and carbon sequestration through regenerative agriculture. It’s crucial for us to highlight how we contribute to complex ecosystems. He also noted the need for the beef industry's voice to be heard, especially as we embark on long-term commitments like regenerative practices.
