What makes a product truly ‘sell itself’? I recently had the chance to sit down with Tony Resta, the owner of Yield N16 and N1, to talk about what it really takes to be a local shop with heart. In our conversation, Tony shared the essentials: great customer service, product knowledge, and a deep connection to what’s on his shelves. He talked about the passion his team brings; they genuinely love the products they sell, including ours, and that excitement resonates with everyone who steps through the door. Tony reflects on how Yield’s journey with Nettle products has evolved. Beyond the lockdown, our Haverstock White made a comeback after fizzling out, reminding me that while we face setbacks, the value of our quality has endured. Customers came back asking for it, requesting recipes and sharing how versatile it is, spreading the word naturally. It’s a product that speaks for itself, and as Tony said, it’s something Yield doesn’t have to introduce, it just sells itself! As my journey with Nettle begins to wind down, it's moments like these that remind me of the true impact of authentic partnerships with independent shops. Seeing the genuine love for our products from both stockists and customers has been one of the most rewarding parts of this experience and my journey. If you’re looking for inspiration on the value of stocking products you believe in, I hope this footage of Tony offers a few insights. What do you look for in the products and local shops you support? #IndependentRetail #LocalBusinesses #ArtisanalFoods #FoodAndWinePairing #SustainableFood #AuthenticPartnerships #NaturalProducts #UKFoodIndustry #YieldN16 #YieldN1 #Nettle

The closing of Dom's & Foxtrot is a painful turn of events for their employees and the many local and emerging brands that have been left in lurch because of it. Fresh Picks will do whatever we can to support them. It's also a loss for the Chicago food system. Whereas local food for most other retailers is little more than lip service, both Dom's and Foxtrot were genuinely committed to elevating local suppliers and emerging brands, and they did so quite effectively. If you don't know Fresh Picks yet and local food is important to you, now is a great time to give us a try. On average, well over half of our entire assortment is local, often sourced directly from the producer. As a way to support local producers, all new customers can get 15% off their first order with the code OUTFOX. Check us out at freshpicks.com. You won't have any trouble finding local suppliers! #localfood #getalittlelocal #localfoodchicago #eatwell #personalizedgrocery #buildabetterfoodsystem

🎉Happy New Year everybody 🎉 I wanted to share the story of my Fruit Bowl & Yogurt Store start up 🍦 It’s nothing fancy but I would be happy to look back on this even if the business fail or a success. Every big dream starts with a single step, and for me, that step was opening a small yogurt stand at Hwy 404 & Steels Flea Market. Here’s what I learned along the way: 💡Start Where You Are: An idea of a flea market might not sound like the first choice, but it is the perfect place for me to test the concept and connect with the community. One of the most important step of branding. 💭 Engage with people: We talked to all the food vendors at the market to research the market and foot traffic before putting our deposit down. 💰 Save as much as possible: Buy good condition used machines, and save as much as possible on supplies. Always know when to negotiate. After all the hard work and dedication I am happy to annouce that YoFruit is opening on January 11th, 2025 🍾 Come join us for unlimited toppings when you purchased our dessert! #hwy404 #fleamarket #startupstory

At #Snackbox, quality assurance isn't just a priority—it's a commitment we uphold from the very beginning. From selecting trusted suppliers who understand our needs to hand-picking and inspecting every fruit, our team ensures that only the highest-quality produce reaches our customers. Our rigorous standards extend beyond just appearance—each fruit undergoes thorough examination, from color and texture to freshness and taste. It's this attention to detail that sets us apart, with approximately 20 tons of fruit meticulously inspected each week! 🍐 Behind the scenes, our dedicated team of drivers plays a crucial role in delivering excellence. With 15 drivers serving 30 customers each Monday, they ensure timely and efficient service, day in and day out. When faced with the prospect of scaling our operations threefold, CEO Eugenijus confidently states: "Give us three weeks, and we'll get it done." It's this unwavering dedication to adaptability and excellence that drives our growth. #team #business #motivation #office #fruits

Oh you thought Coffee Fest was the only one coming up to catch up in person- well I got some good news! I will be at International Fresh Produce Association Show in Atlanta next week! 🍇 🚛🍓 I LOVE shipping produce! There’s something so rewarding about making sure fresh, delicious food gets from farm to table. But let’s be real—it’s not without its challenges. 🌱 Timing is everything when it comes to fresh goods. That’s why I made it my mission to become a pro at navigating tight windows, transit times, and even weather hiccups. 🥬 Temperature control? A make-or-break deal! I know firsthand the importance of keeping leafy greens at their perfect chill, because pink lettuce doesn't sell. And communication is key. Whether it’s a driver stuck in traffic or a warehouse needing a status update, I’m on it before the first watermelon rolls out of the truck!🍉 Every shipment is a fresh challenge, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. If you need produce moved efficiently and handled with care—let’s talk about it at the show! 🥦🍅 #LogisticsLove #ProduceShipping #SupplyChainFlow #FreshFreight #ProduceTradeShow #FreezPak

Are you a small food maker wanting to make a big impact? Let's talk about a different approach: instead of jumping into big stores right away, try starting small. In today's busy food world, lots of categories are still pretty disorganized, especially in supermarkets. Starting small means you can talk directly to your customers and get their thoughts. By starting with a smaller group, you can quickly find any problems with your product and make it even better. This helps you get ready for bigger stores later on. The key to success is knowing your market, making your product perfect, and connecting with your customers. So, why wait? Start small, think big, and watch your food business grow #FoodEntrepreneur #SmallScaleSuccess #CustomerFirst #foodindusry #horeca #dmart #moderntrade #generaltrade #foodmanufacturing #foodstartup #brmading #foodpackaging #foodtech #foodbusiness #ingrediants

Day 31 /100 Herman Lay: From Side Hustle to Snack Food Empire Did you know the founder of Lay's Potato Chips, Herman Lay, started by experimenting in his spare time? Lay had an entrepreneurial spirit from a young age and, after dropping out of college, worked for a food company. Recognizing the potential of potato chips as a portable snack, he began tinkering with recipes while still employed. This side hustle eventually led him to purchase the Barrett Food Company, which he rebranded as H.W. Lay Distribution Co. Lay's rise to success wasn't just about the product itself. He was a marketing mastermind, becoming the first snack food company to advertise on television and securing a celebrity spokesperson. Lay's also made product innovations like crinkle-cut chips and secured a key technology to deliver consistent flavor at scale. Today, Lay's continues to be a dominant player in the food industry, a testament to Herman Lay's vision and innovation. What are your thoughts on Lay's success? Share your favorite flavor or marketing campaign in the comments! #Lays #SnackFoodHistory #EntrepeneruialSpirit #MarketingWins
