Yesterday, we were privileged to host Mr. Christopher Weissberg, the elected Congressman representing French citizens in North America, along with Mr. Fabrice Jaumont, Education Attaché at the Embassy of France in the United States, at Lyceum Kennedy French American School! It was a pleasure to guide them through our lower and upper school campuses, showcasing the diverse ways we engage our students in bilingual education. They generously engaged with our high school students, sharing invaluable insights and inspiration. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Mr. Weissberg and Mr. Jaumont for their time, enriching discussions with our Head of School, Mr. Pierre-Ludovic Perrot, and for their contribution to strengthening our ties with France! #FrenchAmerican #French #BilingualEducation #NYC #LyceumKennedy #FrenchSchools #FrenchEducation AEFE - Agence pour l'enseignement français à l'étranger

You will probably have seen the riots that shook the UK just over a month ago, representing a frightening time for many around the country. Fuelled by disinformation, this anarchic violence highlighted deep, polarising fractures in our society. An exploration into how the UK’s far right has changed, the article attached in the comments from Daniel De Simone of the BBC is a must-read for those interested. This article, alongside the riots themselves, raises many questions for us to consider. Particular attention should be paid to the concepts of “nationalism” and “patriotism”: we are pushed to better understand what these concepts mean, and whether they are good or not. Is there a spectrum from flag-waving at the Paris Olympics to the brandishing of weapons against those deemed “Other”? Are nationalism and patriotism compatible with a respect and appreciation for the international community? Is patriotism linked more to why we enjoy the offering, services and history of a country, or to that which the government engages with? Our group languages courses are designed to allow you to explore engaging topics and debate big questions, all while developing language, academic and professional skills. “The International Community” is one of our group courses where you can achieve this development, and we’ll be focusing on some of the questions above in Week 3: Nationalism and Patriotism. Check out our services on our website, and contact us for more information. Please let us know what you think about the above questions in the comments. We want to encourage debate, and provide the space to develop a range of applicable skills. #ESL #englishlanguage #groupcourses #anglais #английский #inglés

💡I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, and again, and again… PRIORITIZE LANGUAGE LEARNING IN U.S. K-12 SCHOOLS. Not only for the future of our workforce, as mentioned in this article, but to better prepare generations to come for a more interconnected and globalized world. #langchat #languagelearning #globalization
The demand for Americans who speak languages besides English is increasing, not decreasing – not just in the usual fields like international business, diplomacy, intelligence analysis and the military, but also cops, emergency workers, medical professionals and social workers who need to be able to speak to immigrant communities.

It is official! Lycee is now recognized as a world class international school by the French Government and we are now able to offer students the French International Baccalaureate (BFI) or baccalauréat français international (BFI). The BFI is a bilingual and bicultural program along with examation taken by less than 1% of French baccalaureate candidates worldwide. The French International Baccalaureate (BFI) is an academically-enhanced version of the French baccalaureate that all LFNO students will pursue along with their Louisiana TOPS Diploma. We are one of the few schools in the WORLD offering this opportunity to students and the only school in North America that is offering it for FREE at a PK-12 PUBLIC SCHOOL! For those wondering, what is the French baccalaureate? The French baccalaureate known in France colloquially as the bac, is a French national academic qualification that students can obtain at the completion of their secondary education (at the end of the lycée) by meeting certain requirements. Though it has only existed in its present form as a school-leaving examination since Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte's implementation on March 17, 1808, its origins date back to the first medieval French universities.

Kicking off Day 2 of Universities UK International IHEF with a breakout session on ‘Knowledge Diplomacy: What role do universities play as influencers and actors in international relations?’. At a time when UK universities risk fixating on domestic policy problems, it’s refreshing to be reminded of the ways in which academics have the potential to influence policy relating to major global challenges such as the climate crisis. Tim Gore and fellow panellists urge universities to encourage cross-sector, interdisciplinary, intercultural and equitable (Global South - Global North) collaborations; to invest in communicating more effectively the expertise of their academics; and to ensure policy advice is accessible and easy-to-digest with clear recommendations. #ihef2024

I had the opportunity to attend the Iraq – UK Higher Education Dialogue last week in London in partnership with the British Council. The aim was to identify ways of building Iraq Internationalization bridge in this idea of global society. Student & Staff mobility emerged as a dynamic way for internationalization of higher education. Not only I had the rewarding opportunity to experience this as a mobility student in 2016, but also, through my research on the role of universities in the International Society and how and why they use internationalization as a driver of education and social transformation offering an innovative interdisciplinary curriculum. We need to work closer together to build a better future for global education, modern research, and fruitful projects to keep pace with the increasingly changing world of the 21st century. I believe we can do more to take on the future and play a role in society “unlocking potential for all, changing lives regionally, nationally and internationally”. #internationalization #highereducation #globalsociety #studentmobility #internationalrelations #culturalrelations #diplomacy
