Homes for Orphaned Pets Exist (H.O.P.E.) is a not-for-profit organization of animal lovers from Saratoga and surrounding counties who are dedicated to assisting animals whose owners have passed away or can no longer keep them. Some of the pets are surrendered directly to H.O.P.E. but others come from various local rescues or shelters which are at capacity. Many are senior dogs and cats or have special needs. H.O.P.E. gives these homeless pets a second chance for a wonderful life; to be part of a family, to be a therapy pet or just to be someone’s best friend. The goal of H.O.P.E. is to find suitable adopters who will provide these pets with a lifelong commitment of love and care.

the KILLING continues. I'm sorry, I normally post /comment/repost mainly work related issues. it's not very professional to let your emotions take over, but I'm so upset today with what goes on inside these "Shelters" What gives these "shelters" the right to kill (or as the prefer to say euthanize)? and really why are they really allowed to call themselves shelters? they kill just to make room to get another animal in, and then they will kill that one too Despicable p s.: if you have Californians in your network pls pls share

🐾 National Rescue Dog Day 🐶❤️ Today marks National Rescue Dog Day, a special occasion dedicated to recognizing the incredible dogs in shelters awaiting their forever homes. Established in 2018 by children's book author lisa wiehebrink, this day shines a light on the importance of giving these deserving dogs a second chance at life. Each year, countless dogs in shelters overcome tremendous obstacles, often showing great resilience. Rescue dogs aren't just pets; they can become family members, companions for the elderly, and even lifelines for those with disabilities through emotional support and independence. Lisa's inspiration came from her rescue dog, Cooper, a gentle giant with a kind soul who was rescued from a Los Angeles shelter. His grateful spirit and unconditional love have touched many hearts, highlighting the profound bond that can form when you choose to rescue. 🐕 The Impact of Rescuing: • Transform a Life: Adopting a rescue dog can dramatically alter their future, providing them with the love and security they deserve. • Emotional Support: Rescue dogs often become excellent emotional support animals, helping to alleviate conditions like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. • Unconditional Love: The love of a rescue dog often offers unparalleled companionship. Of course, my own beloved Cookie was a rescue from Friends of Loudoun County Animals. If you've rescued a dog, share your story and inspire others! If you are considering adoption, visit your local shelter and meet dogs who are waiting for someone just like you to give them a loving home. If adoption isn't possible right now, you could also consider donating or volunteering at a local shelter. Rescue dogs teach us about resilience, hope, and the joy of a second chance. 🐾💖 #RescueDogs #DogAdoption #DogLover #AdoptDontShop #JoyfulDog #VirginiaDogTrainer #DogTrainer #TimetoTrain

Most rescues think adopters are proactive about reading every email and putting their advice into practice, but that could hurt the dogs you are trying to save. Many times, the reality is that these well-intentioned adopters are overwhelmed with information and may miss crucial steps in the process. But we get it. Everyone says that the more you give your adopters on the front end, the less likely they are to bring back the dog they adopted from you. This belief is widespread and perpetuated by many within the rescue community. So it is easy to believe. But if that were true, every home would be a forever home, and we know that's not the case. If you continue to hold this belief, you could be putting dogs' lives at risk. The reality is far more complex, and many variables come into play regarding successful adoptions. But how can adopters take the dog's decompression and training seriously? You provide them with a single resource that takes them through bringing a dog home day by day with support from professionals. This method ensures they don't miss out on critical steps and have a structured approach. So let me ask: Do you want dogs to keep coming back to you and not be able to save more, or do you want to set every dog up for success and raise money while you're at it? The choice seems clear, and the benefits of a comprehensive, supportive approach cannot be overstated. Sign up for updates here: https://lnkd.in/enECi847

🐾🏠 June is National Foster a Pet Month, and at Pathways Counseling Services, we want to highlight the incredible benefits of fostering animals for both the pets and your mental health! Did you know that having a furry companion can reduce stress, anxiety, and depression? 🐶💕 Fostering a pet is a temporary arrangement that involves providing a loving home for an animal in need until they're ready for adoption. It's a rewarding experience that allows you to make a positive impact on an animal's life while enjoying the companionship and unconditional love they offer. 🤗🐱 Many people avoid fostering because they lack information or fear the emotional attachment. However, fostering is a crucial step in helping homeless animals find their forever homes. By providing a safe and nurturing environment, you're preparing them for a successful adoption. 🙏💖 At Pathways Counseling Services, we understand the power of the human-animal bond in promoting mental well-being. Whether you're fostering a playful puppy or a cuddly kitten, the experience can bring joy, purpose, and a sense of fulfillment to your life. 🐾😊 This National Foster a Pet Month, we encourage you to consider opening your heart and home to a furry friend in need. If you're not ready to foster, you can still support the cause by spreading awareness, donating to local animal shelters, or volunteering your time. 📣🐾 Remember, every small act of kindness can make a big difference in the lives of these precious animals. If you're considering fostering or need support on your mental health journey, Pathways Counseling Services is here for you. 🤝💙 #NationalFosterAPetMonth #FosteringSavesLives #MentalHealthMatters #PetTherapy #PathwaysCounselingServices #ScottsdaleAZ

October is Adopt a Shelter Dog Month! Did you know that 3.1 million+ dogs enter shelters every year in the U.S., with many waiting for weeks or even months to find their forever home? Sadly, only about 50% of these dogs are adopted, while the others remain in shelters or foster care, hoping for a loving family. At Pet Protect & Connect, we’re working to change that! Our app, launching in January 2025, will help streamline the adoption process by: Proactively matching adopters with available pets, ensuring a quicker, more accurate fit. -Prescreening applications so shelters can process more requests faster, giving dogs a better chance of finding a home sooner. -Keeping adopters updated, reducing the disappointment of missing out on a pet they’ve connected with. -By making the adoption journey smoother, we'll help more dogs find the loving homes they deserve. 🏡 Ready to make a difference? Adopt, foster, or support your local shelter this month — and let’s work together to help every dog find their forever family!

𝗧𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆’𝘀 𝗧𝘂𝗲𝘀𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗧𝗶𝗽 - 𝗜𝘁'𝘀 𝗔𝗱𝗼𝗽𝘁 𝗮 𝗦𝗵𝗲𝗹𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗣𝗲𝘁 𝗗𝗮𝘆, and we want to shout it from the rooftops, so please share this post with others!📣🐾 This day is all about raising awareness for the incredible animals waiting in shelters for their forever families. By adopting instead of shopping for a pet, you're not just giving a deserving furry friend a second chance - you're literally saving a life. The reality is that in 2023, according to Shelter Animals Count (https://bit.ly/3wdLrCe), approximately 6.5 𝑚𝑖𝑙𝑙𝑖𝑜𝑛 𝑎𝑛𝑖𝑚𝑎𝑙𝑠 𝑒𝑛𝑡𝑒𝑟𝑒𝑑 𝑠ℎ𝑒𝑙𝑡𝑒𝑟𝑠, and only around half get adopted. The others? Well, we don't like to think about it. 💔 But YOU can change those heartbreaking odds! Adopting from your local shelter, humane society, or rescue group is one of the most impactful things you can do to combat pet overpopulation and homelessness. We've written & hosted some amazing articles & webinar about saving lives, overpopulation and kitten basics - check out the links below!
