Q2 reflection...   Since becoming the CEO of Hatch Digital at the end of last year, time has flown and lots has changed in our business, but has much changed in the market?    Speaking to countless stakeholders involved in hiring for tech teams, it’s apparent there is a growing mass of intent. Firms desire to pursue diverse talent is there. It feels genuine, but I do still question in the broadest sense the lack of action and see many firms stuck, reverting to type and not really any further along.    We have been lucky to work with forward thinking companies who are passionate, decisive and take action giffgaff, CapGemini and Roke, are already seeing the benefits of acting.    Doing new things is difficult, I have been there myself in large organisations there are intrenched processes and budgeting cycles where the next cycle is beginning before the previous cycle has ended. Equally I know if you get the right decision makers together things can change quickly and budgets be realigned.   So who out there is willing to think differently... I will personally make time to share what I am seeing and help suggest approaches for companies who want to get started. The more people we can launch into tech careers the better.    In addition, if suitable Hatch can design and offer solutions to do the heavy lift on your behalf. New talent approaches are clearly going to be a competitive advantage and save you money in he long run;   1) Hire diverse talent from completely different backgrounds cost effectively, train them in your image and at the scale you need.  2) Skills audit your universe of people I bet you have latent tech talent that can be identified and trained towards tech. 3) Reskill in useful tech skills. Democratisation of Data, low code AI or tools like Power Apps can revolutionise non-tech departments.   Feel free to drop me a message. 🔍 Thinking outside the box - we've all heard this buzzword in various contexts, but what does it really mean? Stretching beyond your comfort zone? Bringing insights and knowledge from other sectors into yours? Expanding your perspective? All the above? 💡 In my experience, the reference to thinking outside the box is often used as an equivalent to Innovation, in one shape or another. While this is often true, it’s not always the case. For example, thinking outside the box might make sense when you’re trying to improve product design or come up with new creative ideas, but it can be extremely destructive when applied to defining the strategic direction of an organisation. There're plenty of examples of companies who were very successful in their industry but went bankrupt shortly after starting to think outside the box, aka getting into businesses they didn’t have a reason to be in, only because it seemed to be a straightforward route to bring in new revenues. And then there are equally companies who’ve continued to be successful for decades just thinking inside their own boxes (tech giants like Tesla, Google, Apple, Amazon are good examples here). So, I’d say, we need to first explore all the opportunities within our own boxes, diversify, and create new avenues within our businesses before we seek innovation outside the box. 📦✨ #Innovation #StrategicThinking #InsideTheBox #OutsideTheBox

Day 10: Leading with Heart and Hustle – My Journey from Hotels to SaaS! Leadership isn’t just about titles or tasks; it’s about people, stories, and the journeys we share. Reflecting on my days in the hospitality world to now helping steer the ship at a tech startup, I realize leadership is less about the industry and more about heart, understanding, and the collective hustle. In the Trenches of Hospitality: Here, leadership was hands-on, and heart-first. It was celebrating a team member's birthday at midnight because that’s when our shift ended. It was about turning a guest's disappointment into a story they’d share about how we went above and beyond. Leadership was visible, tangible, and always personal. Shifting Gears to Tech: Moving to tech, the canvas changed but the colors of leadership remained vibrant. It became about virtual high-fives for a feature shipped ahead of schedule, and late-night Slack messages brainstorming solutions. It was leading through screens but connecting as deeply, sharing victories, setbacks, and Christmas parties over Zoom. As we lay the foundations of Arkeo AI, my role is more than just guiding—it’s about nurturing a culture where everyone feels valued and driven. We’re small but mighty, dreaming big and daring boldly. Here, leadership means being a cheerleader, strategist, and sometimes, the much-needed comic relief.
