A Consequential Education at Gettysburg College makes an impact for our graduates long into the future. In a report by the Georgetown University Center on Education and the Workforce: ROI of Liberal Arts Colleges, Gettysburg College is ranked No. 29 and No. 32 among liberal arts colleges for 10-year and 40-year Net Present Value (NPV), respectively. Net Present Value (NPV) refers to how much a sum of money in the future is valued today when taking into account costs, future earnings, and the length of time required to invest and earn a specific amount over a fixed horizon. In an analysis of 40-year return on investment (ROI) of 4,500 colleges and universities, Gettysburg ranks in the top 1% in the nation among liberal arts colleges for lifetime ROI, according to the Georgetown University Center on Education and the Workforce. Cornish College of the Arts and Seattle University are excited to announce the signing of a Letter of Intent to join institutions, with Cornish eventually becoming the Cornish College of the Arts at Seattle University and continuing to educate students at its South Lake Union campus. Today the Junior Achievement of Florida Foundation celebrates Senator Jarrid “Jay” Collins of the 14th District of the Florida Senate for his championing of 3DE Schools with the securing of a $2.9M appropriation from the State of Florida. This support will drive systemic change in participating high schools and propel the expansion of 3DE to additional schools throughout the state in the coming years. Thank you Senator Collins for believing in Junior Achievement's mission and serving as a committed leader in providing opportunities for Florida students. In Florida, 3DE is currently implemented in 19 schools in 8 school districts in partnership with 4 regional Junior Achievement areas. On average, Florida 3DE students experience 18.2% fewer cases of chronic absenteeism, 26% higher graduation rates, and 86% of students report seeing the relevance of school in their education (vs. 46%) when compared to their non-3DE peers. 3DE is an instructional model designed to systemically re-engineer high school education to provide economic opportunity for all students by developing in students of all walks of life the competencies needed to thrive in the workplace by applying those skills to real-world business cases and entrepreneurship, inside and outside of the classroom. In November, our California Community Colleges Chancellor Sonya Christian, Board of Governors and executive leadership attended the annual Community College League of California convention. Chancellor Christian delivered an inspiring State of the System update to the audience. The state of the system is strong! Overall, the number of students attending a California community college is increasing. ✨ There was an almost 10% increase in the number of students between 2022 and 2023, spefically among veterans, Black, Latino and Native American students. ✨ Dual enrollment is up 24% ✨ There was an increase in the number of students receiving a Pell and/or California College Promise Grant Our Vision 2030 blueprint is guided by the following goals:   🥅 Goal 1: Equity in Success - Ensure the academic and career success of all Californians who are current and prospective California community college students 🥅 Goal 2: Equity in Access - Broaden the opportunities for all Californians to participate in higher education by starting or continuing their higher education at a California community college 🥅 Goal 3: Equity in Support - Partner with other systems, agencies, institutions and communitybased organizations to provide students the academic, financial and social supports necessary to thrive by taking education opportunities and the accompanying support to Californians You can access our State of the System report here: https://lnkd.in/e9_aC8aU

For nearly 30 years, Breakthrough of Greater Philadelphia has been transforming the lives of middle school students while building a strong pipeline of future educators! Through summer tutoring and after-school programs, aspiring teachers gain hands-on experience, shaping the next generation of leaders in education. In partnership with Breakthrough and University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education we are working hard to recruit, train and financially support folks as they move along the teacher pipeline - ultimately working to bring great teachers to classrooms across the city in support of kids. Nationally, 54% of undergraduates identify as first-generation college students (Center for First-generation Student Success, 2024). And often unspoken in our conversations about #firstgen is its intersection with family income. Parental income for first-generation college students remained steady at $41,000 since data was last published by the Center for First-generation Student Success, and this highlights the continued need for services (#TRIOworks) and financial supports that empower our first-gen students to keep pursuing their educational and career goals. Bringing it down to the lived experience level, there is an indelible quality to the first-generation student experience that connects all of us that have and continue to trek on the journey. To be first-gen is to punch an entrance ticket to a world we and our families didn't know previously. It's a testament that we dream big and go the distance, in spite of the systemic inequities that undergird our higher education system, particularly in our rural communities. We are poverty cycle breakers; we are worthy of the opportunity that education beyond high school affords us.
