We had an inspiring and informative teacher orientation week led by Kate Nevenglovska our new secondary principal, setting the perfect tone for teaching and learning this year, all rooted in the IB philosophy. One exercise that really resonated with me was surprisingly simple: we were asked "Can you share some of the most memorable moments you had in the classroom, when we were students?" Here are five alternative questions to look at: 1. Can you share your best learning experience? 2. What are some of your favourite memories from your time in school? 3. Are there any particular experiences in school that you look back on fondly? 4. What lessons or moments from your school days stand out the most to you? 5. Which classroom experiences had the biggest impact on your love of learning? And finally, we were asked if we can be that one teacher, that stayed in our own memory. In a room filled with passionate teachers, hearing everyone's stories and motivations reminded me that education is so much more than a curriculum—it's about connection, growth, and sparking curiosity.
