An excellent composer must have exceptional understanding of the audience’s preferences. In part 2 of the Legend of Aaron Tsang, Amos Vang and Aaron Tsang discuss Aaron’s decision to go to the University of Toronto for music composition, the evolution of Aaron’s musical style, the similarities between composers and lawyers, and the importance of mentorship in the music profession and the legal profession. EPISODE HERE: https://lnkd.in/eqPx9kUZ You may also be surprised at the number of similarities between composers and lawyers. Aaron also discusses the importance of predicting and understanding an audience’s musical tastes, and Amos and Aaron discuss concrete examples such as Mick Gordon’s “Doom: 2016” and “Doom Eternal” soundtracks, as well as Christopher Tin’s “Baba Yetu” and “Sogno di Volare” for Civilization IV and VI respectively. Intro and Outro music: Jubilant Dawn (University of Toronto Graduation Fanfare), by Aaron Tsang Any other referenced music belongs to their respective owners. #composer #musicproducer #universityoftoronto #soundengineer #argerich #music #podcast #composition #counterpoint #harmony #piano #menuhin #composition #junoawards

*WHAT IS REC's GENRE CLUSTER?* https://lnkd.in/e9jtaQgN I've been taking meetings with various music industry people to figure out the best next steps to have REC's epic new album, KITE TO CAMDEN, conquer the world. In one of those meetings, someone used the phrase "genre cluster". I LOVE this, because as a believer that genres are restrictive and often misleading, I know that almost all music falls into many categories. Hence the CLUSTER. What would you say REC's genre cluster is? I call it MULTIPHASIC POWER POP, which is the best way I know to encompass the totality of REC's sound. But that ain't super specific. Which genres do you think are part of those multi phases? Rock? Ambient? Punk? Electro? Dance? Hip hop? Listen and let me know! ☺🎶💙

🤔 What do you think of this pitch of "Fortnight" by Taylor Swift and Post Malone? "Fortnight," a collaboration between Taylor Swift and Post Malone, is a poignant track that delves into the complexities of addiction and recovery, as well as the intricacies of love and romance. Musically, it's an alternative pop song with a significant pop influence, interwoven with elements of indie rock and electro-pop. The artist's voice carries a blend of ethereal and romantic tones, which, along with the choir's presence, adds a layer of emotional depth to the song. Electronic textures dominate the soundscape, creating a reverberated atmosphere that complements the song's reflective mood. The use of synth contributes to the track's dreamy and nostalgic ambiance, while the lyrics paint a picture of struggle and hope. --- Let’s be honest, I didn’t write this article—Bridge.audio's auto-description feature did. It crafted the text in just 15 seconds, but getting to this point wasn’t quick. It took several years of analyzing a vast amount of music to understand it well and numerous trials to train our model. So, you could say we weren’t exactly lazy on this, haha 😅 This feature is constantly evolving, becoming more efficient as it goes. I don’t consider it perfect yet (can it ever be?). There’s always room for improvement, and that’s where your feedback becomes invaluable. Feel free to share your thoughts on how music should be described, the tone of voice, and more. This tool aims to become useful for pitching your music to DSPs, for Sync, Promo, or even assisting artists in presenting their music to labels. "Vocalize" is a composition that began as a simple, intimate dialogue between voice and piano. In its original form, the piece captures raw emotion, where the voice soars above the piano’s delicate, understated accompaniment. The piano's gentle chords create a space for the vocals to breathe, each note an expression of longing, contemplation, or quiet reflection. This intimate version was a moment in time, a piece of music that allowed the vocal line to stand at the forefront, supported only by the soft but resonant energy of the piano. In the ever-changing world of music, it’s easy to overlook or let go of older compositions. However, your past works are integral to your artistic journey. Each composition, no matter how simple or complex, represents a unique snapshot of your creativity at a specific time. @theskyfield559 theskyfield.net #MusicComposition #OrchestralMusic #SynthMusic #FilmScore #Soundtrack #ComposerLife #ElectronicMusic #MusicProduction #ClassicalMusic #MusicForFilm #SoundDesign #MusicInspiration #CreativeMusic #FilmComposer #ContemporaryMusic #MusicIndustry #ComposerCommunity #MusicInnovation #Orchestration #MusicArt
