Why is the word "Inclusion" mostly associated with people with disabilities? Initially, the term "Inclusion" was used for people with disabilities and their integration into social life. But today, supporting and involving people with different backgrounds in all social activities is the way of living. Inclusion means respect for human dignity. For instance, providing independence: in the context of food service institutions, this approach can be implemented by enabling individuals to come to a table without the need for assistance from others. If the institution’s owners respect others, they build ramps not for a tick but to ensure unlimited access and dignity. Do educational program providers consider whether all participants can attend a scheduled lecture? Is a new cultural center or educational program designed for everyone? Barriers, intentional or not, hinder the fulfillment of human rights and the meeting of basic needs. Barrier-free - when it is comfortable for each and everyone. Frequently, society itself is a source of barriers. Sometimes, we ignore creating barrier-free environments and communications suitable for everyone and, instead, force people to adapt to existing realities. Every individual is normal. Our responsibility is to accept this norm and adapt the environment so that every human, regardless of his/her/their life circumstances, feels comfortable and is capable of taking part in social life. An inclusive and open society always wins because people there feel valuable and have opportunities to develop their potential. #diversity #inclusion

🌍 The Importance of Enabling Technology for Community Inclusion 🌍 There are many reasons why enabling technology is essential for people with disabilities. As ambassadors and advocates of community inclusion, we are responsible for ensuring that everyone is included in physical and digital spaces. In today’s hybrid world, access to technology is the key to true inclusion. Without it, how can we guarantee that people with disabilities are fully integrated into our communities? At Vista Supports, LLC, we are committed to providing the necessary tools and technologies that empower individuals with disabilities. Let’s work together to ensure everyone has the “keys” to access and thrive in our interconnected world. #CommunityInclusion #EnablingTechnology #VistaSupportsLLC #Accessibility #Empowerment #TechForGood

Useful to know which parts of your playground provision lean towards different SEND areas of need! Communication and interaction are often the easiest to accommodate for... although any piece of outdoor play equipment can be flexible if you know how to utilise it!
🛝 Most playgrounds lean towards one area of need more than others 🛝 This is often unintentional, your playground may offer more communication and language opportunities or cater for sensory needs. Do you know which areas of your current playground fit each area of need? We share how you can make the most of playtime for children with SEND in our latest blog: https://lnkd.in/emExyrng #inclusiveplay #sensoryplaygrounds #inclusion #SENsupport #outdoorplaygroundequipment #PlaygroundDesign #playtimebyfawns

School accessibility. Students living with disabilities. It’s an ongoing task to change, improve and certainly promote the inclusion of special educational needs pupils with action. Education through demonstration (experiencing an accessible environment at a young age) could lead to norms in their adult future which we couldn’t fathom. #Inclusion #Equality #Education #NextGeneration

Inclusion tip from team member Lisa Drennan: Strengthen your disability inclusion initiative by getting your camp staff on board. 👍Organize collaborative planning sessions to engage their feedback - what is working well? Needs improvement? 👍Starting to use visual tools? Ask your staff for their input on design & how and when to introduce them. 👍Set up feedback channels via suggestion boxes, surveys and regular check-ins. 👍Engage your staff in a conversation around modifying games, sports or activities to incorporate universal design principles. Give your staff more agency in decision making. The result? Reduce resistance and increase buy-in.

You know what I'm not an expert on (well, lots of things), but specifically... digital accessibility. I'm not a part of the disabled community, I'm not even sure I would consider myself an ally, since I don't do anything to actively support the community. But that doesn't mean I'm not striving to learn what can HELP the community. HOW we post things, what we post and how accessible we make it matters. It's fine not to know. But it's not ok to remain ignorant. So I'm going to learn. And I won't always get it right. And that's ok too. #accessibilty #digitalaccessibilty #inclusion #learn #grow #dobetter
