Recently, I got to sit down with some of my favorite movement leaders to discuss the threat to our democracy and planet posed by Project 2025—a comprehensive plan devised by a coalition of conservative think tanks, spearheaded by the Heritage Foundation. Their objective is to distort the federal government and its policies to align with anti-democratic, authoritarian conservative ideology. For those just getting familiar with Project 2025 and the very real threat it poses, I urge you to watch this video, which captures some of the highlights from my longer conversation with Marisa Franco of Mijente; George Goehl of Addition Collective; and Maurice Mitchell of Working Families Party. We live in complex, challenging times and so much is on the line. Our best bet for a livable future is organized solidarity. It's our strongest tool to understand threats, refine strategies, and envision a country animated by love for our planet and the belief that all life is precious. 🎉 Today, we held the experts workshop for our project Tackling Structural & Institutional Racism in 8 EU Member States (Sweden, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, Greece, Romania, Czechia, and Latvia). Organised by MPG and with the support of Robert Bosch Stiftung, this initiative fosters strong collaboration and synergy among researchers, civil society organisations, and racialised communities at the national level to combat structural and institutional racism. 📹 Watch our Director Isabelle Chopin speaking about the purpose of this event in the video below. Carmine Conte, PhD, our Senior Policy Analyst, presented the key findings of the comparative research on structural racism in the 8 countries involved in the project, followed by Valerie Duquette from the Mission of Canada to the EU, who shared insights on learning from Canada's experiences. We also had interactive roundtable discussions with our country experts on key challenges regarding structural racism. 🌍 Together with our partners, we are committed to come up with key legal and policy recommendations for both the national and European level to fight structural racism. 🛠 Local solutions to local issues. 🏫 That was the dominant message coming out of the Seattle University (SU) Conversations series with the newly elected members of the Seattle City council, earlier this week. 💡 Expectations are high for the city council in Seattle, which for the first time in nearly a century has six new members concurrently.
