RDs, what calendars do you put your races on? If you are in the tri-state area, there really is no great option, either they are outdated, scraped and could be filled with wrong info, or contained to a race club/timing company/registration website. We are trying to offer another option. SRS has a race calendar open to all races in the NY/NJ/CT/PA/MA Region, even if we don't time/manage them. We have been in the running community for more than 40 years and we love it here. We are grateful to be a part of this little corner of the world and want to give more options to the runners we serve, while fostering a sense of community among the many small town races that exist in our area. If your an RD come add your race to our calendar, and even get put on our RD mailing list so you know what we are up to https://lnkd.in/e7SQRs-8 If your a runner, check on it regularly and you can even join our mailing list so you never miss a thing.

Do you level your arena after jumping? The force exerted by a horse landing after a jump can create divots or indentations in the arena, particularly if the surface is not well-maintained. These divots can then alter the levelness and compactness of the footing, creating uneven areas around repeated take off and landing points. Not only does this provide less cushioning and support for the horse's limbs during these phases, but it also increases the risk of injury to both the horse and rider. We always recommend regular maintenance of an arena to prevent issues like these and to ensure optimal conditions for performance! #arenalevelling #arenamaintenance #menage #arenagrader #horses #ukequine #equestrian https://lnkd.in/eanAdCpf

Fridays’ thought. Great pit stops win races, lousy pit stops lose races. What happens when the pit crew comes together determines the outcome of the race. Our research shows that what happens when your team come together determines the success of your growth plans and initiatives. Something to think about. I competed in the 24-hour Maine Summer Adventure Race last week. After the race, Adventure Racing Insider (a publication covering the sport) analyzed our team's nighttime navigation. As you'll see from the video, our team got wildly lost attacking CP 48 when we abandoned fact (i.e. our pace counts - a way of measuring distance when bushwhacking off trail) for what we perceived (houselights that looked much closer than they actually were). My not-so-earth-shattering lesson: We put a lot of thought into identifying a game plan. Don't be rattled by new information. Analyze new information like any other, giving it the weight it deserves, but always in the context of the bigger picture. Pivot when that new information changes the big picture. https://lnkd.in/emF9Bitf

The so called Rat Race So much is written on the so called Rat Race. I reflect on the metaphor and found it a bit misleading. Addressing one more elephant. 5 Reasons why Rat Race as a metaphor is misleading and confusing. 1. We are all rats and everyone is in a Race. Take it or leave it. The Race is all around. You might like your Race or your might hate it. 2. Say you step out of the Race externally, then there is one internally. You might not be the Rat but definitely a monkey jumping from one tree to the other. Either Rat or monkey - be whoever you like as an Animal. 3. When people say I am out of the Rat Race they basically are chasing their place in the mayhem. They were lost and now don't feel so. Fair feeling and a noble realisation. But hey look at the new place, you will find a Race there too. See if you can not fall for that. 4. Those who see themselves in a Rat Race because the world around or a few wise men or women tell them, please be aware it's the unhappiness that bothers you and not the Race. Race is how the world is built and you will have to reconcile with your spot. 5. Finally, what's wrong in being a Rat. What's wrong in being a Race. If in it then run it. Try and win it. May be then drop out. But don't ridicule it. After all when the world comes to an end you will only have rats and cockroaches who don't perish because they know how to survive. Okay, rats - keep racing.
