THE POWER OF ONE As part of our MT Induction program sessions, there was a session focused on career and opportunities. The speaker emphasised on the notion that we all would have more than a dozen careers during our lifetime, due to change in priorities, challenging situations, job satisfaction and so on. However, the ones who stick on to the organisation inspite of these challenges are usually the ones that grow the most because they get to explore their fullest potential and experience a multitude of situational challenges in the organisational evolution. However, manoeuvring yourself through these turbulent situations requires you to challenge the status quo, make bold contrarion decisions and spend hours on ground work to prove your worth. It’s in these times, that you realise the power of one- That one individual who says I got you; I believe in you; ready to support you when everything goes wrong; and be there in the mud with you. That belief of an omnipresent support will suddenly help you find energy and courage to do things and take on opportunities that you would not have done before. I’m privileged to have had the support of such individuals who have had immense confidence in me, to drive through thick and thin; both at the personal and professional front, across the 3 organisations that I’ve been associated with. As someone who has always strived to deliver sessions that are not only informative but also engaging and empowering, this news has left me questioning the effectiveness of my efforts.
