Fiji Airways Partners with Odys Aviation to Launch Hybrid VTOL Cargo Flights Fiji Airways has signed an Expression of Interest with Odys Aviation to introduce the ‘Laila’ hybrid VTOL aircraft as part of its pilot programs in 2025. Designed for cargo with a range of up to 400 miles, ‘Laila’ will connect Fiji’s 330 islands, providing low-carbon air cargo solutions and opening new emergency medical routes across the South Pacific. Andre Viljoen, CEO of Fiji Airways, emphasized the airline’s commitment to sustainability, stating, “This partnership will not only expand our operations today but will also shape the future of travel and lifestyle for the people of Fiji.” Odys Aviation’s hybrid VTOL technology offers a sustainable alternative for aviation and supports Fiji Airways’ expansion into logistics and government contracts. The partnership follows Odys Aviation’s collaboration with Honeywell to develop Ground Control Stations to support the aircraft rollout in the Pacific. Odys Aviation has signed an Expression of Interest letter with Fiji Airways, which will use Odys’ hybrid #VTOL #cargo aircraft — known as ‘Laila’ as part of its pilot programs from next year. Designed in multiple configurations for cargo and with a range of up to 400 miles, ‘Laila’ will connect all of Fiji’s 330 islands. Flights operated via these aircraft will provide a low-carbon air cargo alternative for routes across the #SouthPacific and open up new emergency medical routes that have, until now, been inaccessible because of infrastructure challenges.
