Ar Research First we have been doing a lot of work on the question of loneliness and social cohesion. Loneliness has been called 'a hidden epidemic' and it is a serious mental health problem. But it's also a problem for communities and societies as much as individuals. The current U.S. Surgeon General, Vivek H. Murthy writes eloquently about the problem in his book "Together: Loneliness, Health and What Happens When We Find Connection". On the latest episode of the Unlocking Great Books podcast. Sean B. and I discuss Murthy's book and why you should read it. Listen to the podcast to see if you agree with us (and if you do, remember to support your local bookshop). In the evermore online-based climate of our world, social media has taken a huge space up in our lives. For today's podcast, we wanted to discuss the effects, both good and bad, that social media might have on her mental health and perception of reality and ourselves. For this collaboration, we reached out to fellow classmate and social media guru, Bella Bazan. Bazan, with her massive social media following spanning almost a decade, had many different insights about her growth over the years and how her mental health has been affected by social media. In this podcast, we discuss both the positive aspects of social media and personal growth, as well as the negative perceptions we gain of reality, and how that affects how we perceive ourselves and others.
