He, who understands it, earns it, and he, who doesn’t, pays it.” And in business, a negative cash conversion cycle is the ninth-world wonder, allowing companies to grow without the need for external capital 💰 This was the secret sauce for the crazy growth of Gymshark. Gymshark began with the company's CEO sewing clothing in his mother's garage. Fast forward 12 years, it's now worth £1.3 billion. So, how’d they do it? Gymshark’s suppliers were financing its growth. On average, Gymshark was able to use: 👉 108 days to sell an item in its inventory 👉 19 days to collect money from its customers 👉 163 days to pay back its suppliers Cash conversion cycle: -36 Gymshark had cash on hand for 36 days for every item they sold and used it to finance their growth. CCC is THE financial metric that drove their capital-efficient success. Now, this is just for the e-commerce side of the business. As Gymshark moves into physical retail, it will see an increase in its cash conversion cycle. But nonetheless, this is how you grow an e-commerce business into an absolute beast of a brand 🚀
