Dynamic Education, Governance, and Development Specialist Driving Transformational Development and Resilience in Public and Humanitarian Sectors
Embracing Unity: Reflections on Community Engagement during Ramadan This week's communal walk, a shared experience in the spirit of Ramadan, solidified my belief that community engagement drives sustainable socio-economic growth and lasting peace. We witnessed individuals from all walks of life come together, fostering a vibrant sense of harmony. As we approach the holy month of Ramadan, I'm reminded of the values it embodies: compassion, generosity, and reflection. These values transcend faith and cultural differences. This season presents a unique opportunity to reaffirm our shared humanity and strengthen the bonds that unite our communities. Let Ramadan be a time for us to: Practice Empathy: Seek to understand the perspectives of those around us, fostering genuine connection and respect. Embrace Diversity: Celebrate the rich tapestry of cultures and beliefs that make up our society, recognizing our collective strength. Extend a Helping Hand: Offer support to those in need, embodying the spirit of generosity Ramadan teaches us. By embracing these values, we can create an environment where everyone feels seen, heard, and valued. Let this Ramadan be a catalyst for positive change, where we stand together as a united community and a force for good. #CommunityEngagement #Ramadan2024 #FrontierCounties #PeaceBuilding #Unity #Harmony

Yôotva (thank you) for all of the support and generosity we saw in 2023 for the Eco-Cultural Revitalization Fund and the Karuk Tribe. As 2024 begins, it is not too late to give and support the important work of the Karuk Tribe Department of Natural Resources, bringing good fire back to the land, restoring Indigenous knowledge, practice and belief systems, and fixing the world. https://lnkd.in/gsgZkw6t

The journey of Hari Krishna Exports has always been deeply rooted in the cultural values of the Dholakia family—values of humility, resilience, and an steadfast commitment to uplift those around us. Celebrating the Rich Cultural Tapestry of South Africa on Heritage Day Heritage Day, originally known as Shaka Day, was established to honour the legendary Zulu king Shaka Zulu, who unified the Zulu nation. Following South Africa's transition to democracy in 1994, the holiday was renamed to be more inclusive of all South Africans. Today, it is also associated with National Braai Day, celebrating unity through the traditional South African barbecue. Heritage Day promotes unity in diversity by highlighting South Africa's rich cultural variety, fostering mutual respect and understanding. It plays a crucial role in preserving cultural traditions and passing them down to future generations, thus strengthening national pride and promoting a united yet diverse nation. Our cultural heritage also supports Sustainable Development Goals. For example, at TOMA-Now we worked with the Western Cape Department of Environmental Affairs and Development Planning (DEA&DP) in Plettenberg Bay were we focused on business training and expanding opportunities in the Bitou agroforestry and natural products sector. One of the highlights on this project was that it focused on fostering growth and development through learning from our past. Similarly, TOMA-Now worked with the same client in 2020 and were involved implementing a wild honeybush harvesting field guide, promoting ecologically sound practices and preserving biodiversity which in essence worked to reduce inequalities by integrating local traditional practices with sustainable approaches. It supported equitable resource distribution and celebrated cultural heritage, reflecting the spirit of Heritage Day. Let’s come together to honour our past and embrace our diverse cultures as we work towards a sustainable future. #HeritageDay #QualityEducation #ReducedInequalities #CulturalDiversity #CelebratingHeritage
