Today marks the start of National Reconciliation Week 2024. The team at Hope Community Services will be joining in Reconciliation WA's Virtual Breakfast today and participating in the Reconciliation Walk from Langley Park next Friday. Our staff in our regional offices will be hosting some events and activities locally, dialling in to virtual and digital events and also joining in a variety of other community-wide Reconciliation events throughout in each location over the next week. Reconciliation is everyone’s business, and Reconciliation Week is a time to actively learn more about our shared histories and cultures. While this week is a time to come together, HOPE strives to activate and support reconciliation every day of the year. By making changes and taking actions in our daily lives and in everything that we do, we can create a better future for all Australians. “Reconciliation must live in the heart, minds and actions of all Australians as we move forward, creating a nation strengthened by respectful relationships between the wide Australian community, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples”. #NRW2024 #reconciliation #reconciliationWA #HopeCommunityServicesWA

This year’s National Reconciliation Week theme, ‘Now More Than Ever’, reinforces the urgent need to tackle the unfinished business of reconciliation in Australia. 🖤☀️❤️ At NSW Treasury, we’re committed to standing alongside First Nations’ communities in reaffirming our commitment to truth telling, justice and equality. Over the past year, we’ve continued to make progress in key areas of our own reconciliation journey, including: • implementing our Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan to develop and strengthen relationships, engage and educate staff in reconciliation and collaborate with colleagues across the sector to drive meaningful reconciliation action • delivering dedicated truth-telling events and activities for employees, including the introduction of mandatory Everyone’s Business cultural learning. We recognise we still have more work do. Now, more than ever, we remain dedicated to fostering positive change and are committed to creating a reconciled Australia. 👉🏾 Find out more about how we support First Nations people: https://lnkd.in/gP-HjwEc 👉🏾 More information about Reconciliation Week: https://lnkd.in/d3hGDGY6

We, the Financial Inclusion Commission (FIC), are today excited to welcome the new Labour Government's commitment to a National Financial Inclusion Strategy. This crucial initiative aims to tackle financial exclusion and enhance resilience across the UK. In January, the new Labour Government published its 'Plan for Financial Services,' highlighting some alarming statistics: over 1 million people in the UK lack a bank account, and 14 million have less than £100 in savings. Addressing these critical issues will significantly improve the nation's financial resilience. Today we released a statement that includes a comment from our Chair, Chris Pond: “The extent of financial exclusion is a source of shame for a country that prides itself on being a global leader in financial services. We cannot go on with a two-track system with a globally successful financial services sector on one hand, but millions of people who cannot access basic products and services on the other”. We need a comprehensive strategy to ensure everyone has access to essential financial services, fostering #InclusiveGrowth. At FIC, we are committed to working alongside other campaigners and partners to engage with the new Government. Together, we aim to ensure that all UK citizens can contribute to economic growth and lead financially fulfilled lives. Learn more about our mission and the steps we are taking by visiting our website and reading today's statement in full: https://lnkd.in/e9jA6c4N #FinancialInclusion #GeneralElection #FinancialResilience #InclusiveEconomy
