Last week, I had the pleasure of attending this year’s edition of the Critical Communication World (CCW) During the show, Motorola Solutions unveiled new innovations across its safety and security ecosystem designed to help public safety agencies and enterprises communicate, collaborate and operate more efficiently and effectively. The highlights on display at Critical Communications World 2024 include the new DIMETRA™ Connect solution and MXP660 TETRA radio that allow front-line responders to automatically switch between land mobile radio (LMR) and broadband networks. Additional innovations include: V500 body camera: The V500 body camera enables first responders to stream live video and location to the control room, upload footage from the field and receive radio updates and maintenance without returning to the station. M500 in-car video system: Powered by advanced artificial intelligence and high-resolution cameras, the M500 in-car video system constantly scans the environment from multiple viewpoints to help officers identify threats in real time. The backseat passenger analytics automatically initiate recording as soon as an individual enters the back of a police car. Long-range multi-sensor cameras: Designed to operate in the harshest conditions, new specialised long-range cameras offer clear visibility in the complex and extreme environments associated with military, aviation, maritime and critical infrastructure. Equipped with highly accurate detection capabilities, the cameras can identify anomalies from up to 20 miles away (30 km) away to extend the perimeter of security and support a faster, more informed response. Sometimes... I have ideas that just "pop" into my head... This is one of those ideas, like so many I won't profit from it, but could save lives. (I think) Copying those who might be able to do something with this, because I do think the idea has "legs" If you lose someone in a remote area (hiker, lost boat, crashed plane), chances they will have their cell phone (you forget your wallet before cell phone) So what if we had a dumb device, which could capture general Network Authentication and location information of the phone (general carrier/open carrier). What if that device could be put on a plane? Drone? (drone swarm) given to people within diverse search teams? I submit if we could capture that information, we might be able to find wayward people - needle in a haystack. Phone connects, sends GPS information, same way cell towers work - just it's a compact mobile phone. I am feeding on my "CB hunt days" and understanding how cell phones/radios work. I would think you would at least get a mile with 4G/LTE. Not to mention when there is no cell signal, your phone automatically boosts the transmission power. not to mention as technology advances, batteries will get more powerful and phones more versatile.
