Thanks Rohit Brijnath for this story of a beautiful partnership between track coach Luis Cunha & our much vaunted Shanti Pereira. What struck me the most was what Shanti said about what she liked about Cunha. “(There are so many things I like about him). He’s passionate, he’s detail oriented, he’s very knowledgeable and very kind. He accepts me for who I am and the fact that I’m not an athlete but I’m #human too.” She will have bad days, slow days, emotionally fragile days, but he’s always there. —— This is exactly what I say to the many young interviewees I have met recently. As a boss, I’m not just interested in developing you as a lawyer, but as a #humanbeing too. We will be working as a team together through the ups and downs. You will see my bad days, I will see yours. But we make each other better, daily. It’s a hard grind and it’s painful on many days, but the feeling (internally) is amazing when you get through it all. As lawyers, we are privileged to be engaged to help people resolve problems they can’t resolve themselves. Our impact is potentially ginormous. We often see our clients at their lowest. We walk with them. We hold their hand. We fight for them. We make a difference. I love my job. #weekendmusings
