One of my favorite takeaways from participation in the ASU Indigenous Leadership Academy was this: a reminder to lean into historical resilience. This means that we-as Indigenous Leaders demonstrate flexibility and tenacity. We persevere through significant challenges to meet goals. Someone in my cohort said, we will always face challenges. Our ancestors faced challenges. We face challenges. Our children face challenges, and yet-we are resilient. We overcome. I have a printed copy of the Indigenous Leadership Core Competencies on my wall next to my desk. As a social entrepreneur, I and my business face challenges daily. With each success, there follows a challenge. Or maybe the challenge came before or during the success. Yet, we proceed. We proceed with historical strength. If you want to spent time with other Indigenous Change Makers, apply to the program. You won't regret it. #NDNled #AIPIASU #Bethesolution #mentalhealthmatters American Indian Policy Institute

Young Indigenous Peoples are the future of their communities, the ones who will carry on their peoples' ancestral role as Indigenous guardians of their homelands. Join us in celebrating the 14 emerging Indigenous leaders from the Amazon region that comprise the second cohort of Nia Tero's Leadership Fellows Program in Amazonia. The 2023 fellows come from different parts of the Amazon and nurture their own Indigenous traditions, knowledge, and lifeways. But they are all bound together by the aspiration for a better future for their communities, the ecosystems they inhabit, and Mother Earth. The primary objective of Nia Tero's 12-month program is to enhance leadership development and succession, as well as uplift ancestral knowledge and traditional forms of governance. The program aims at reinforcing Indigenous guardianship by having fellows connect with their local leadership. This year's cohort includes Indigenous Peoples from the following communities: 1 Wayana and 1 Tiriyo fellow from Brazil, 4 Achuar fellows from Ecuador, 1 Arecuna and 3 Patamona fellows from Guyana, and 4 Wayana fellows from Suriname. They recently completed their initial six-month training period, which involved three learning sessions in key territories of the Amazon region. Read more 👉 https://bit.ly/3T1MKx3
