Did you see last month the F1 world pit stop record was broken with a time of 1.80 seconds?  As a self-confessed process nerd, I love watching race strategy, and in particular pit crews. The aim is obviously to remove the need for the pit stop (it’s considered wasted time in terms of the overall aim) – but gee when performing this ‘exception’ process the impact to the goal is minimised and the number of tasks squeezed into 1.80 seconds is quite unbelievable. The quality I love most about high performing pit crews is the clear roles and responsibilities – everyone knows their responsibilities, the responsibilities of those around them and how what they do impacts others. Can you imagine the scene if the wheel crew started trying to jack the car? We know this stuff is important, but our organisations still don’t focus on it (particularly in a time of frequent restructure) and most teams struggle with the fundamentals. Process modelling may seem old hat to some, but the value for me in this activity is the cross functional conversations generated, on what we do, what others do, and how what we do impacts others - all in the name of delivering value.  In a time of hybrid working, it seems facilitating these conversations is more important than ever. #bpm #bpmn #processmanagement https://lnkd.in/gSDZA2ib

I know you all think: My hair isn't right, and the label I'm attaching is a little too down to the right... I try every time, but I can guarantee it's one of the most difficult jobs I've ever done. Labeling the DGR crates for a shipment in the airport while offloading the truck, and at the same time ensuring the crates have the correct information for a smooth delivery at the destination gets to me. I recognize that. For this reason, from now on, DIY is done for me, and I will send Paul to handle all this job at the airport. I'm the boss, come on... When do you see the boss doing all those jobs that I presume I'm always doing? Here. I'm not going to lie, I do as much as I can. And I think I will keep doing it because I enjoy it. Even if the label is a little bit to the right. But i can tell you later on i put it right 😎. BTW, airport DGR inspection approved - DONE. I am fascinated by the F1 pit crew. More than 20 people make up the F1 pit crew. They are responsible for stabilising the car, changing the tyres, making adjustments to the aerodynamics, and safely releasing the car. Each team has one pit crew that services both cars throughout the weekend. Each one has an important role elsewhere in the team, but trains to be a part of the pit crew. This got me wondering: Who is in your team? With the different areas of your life and the different roles that you play, who constitutes your team? Just like the pit crew members having specific roles that they play, you need to have some sort of crew to assist you to achieve your goals, in your personal life and in your career. So, the question is- Who is in your corner? What value is each bringing to the table? Is there an area that needs a "crew mamber"?
