During their visit, Driss Berraho also expressed ACWA Power's desire to invest in the Chinese market and the expectation to further cooperate with Sinopec on a global scale in the future. Uniper inks green hydrogen supply deal for Salzgitter’s steel production. By Charlie Currie German steel producer Salzgitter has signed a pre-contract for the offtake of Uniper-produced green hydrogen from a planned 200MW electrolysis plant at the port of Wilhelmshaven. Depending on the availability of Germany’s planned core hydrogen network and a specific pipeline route from Wilhelmshaven to Salzgitter, Uniper could supply up to 20,000 tonnes of green hydrogen per year from 2028 for the steelmaker’s low-carbon steel programme. Large-scale hydrogen salt caverns to be developed by Gasunie and Storag Etzel. By Edward Laity Gasunie and Storag Etzel have agreed to develop 1TWh capacity large-scale hydrogen storage caverns in the Etzel salt dome. Located in the German state of Lower Saxony, the caverns will be connected to the Dutch and German hydrogen market and close to the future Gasunie hydrogen network HyPerLink and the Port of Wilhelmshaven. The two companies will develop and operate the multi-cavity storage facility, following close collaboration on the pilot project H2CAST which involved testing hydrogen storage in two small existing caverns. Under the new agreement, Gasunie will investigate the feasibility of a storage facility. The company has already begun developing underground hydrogen storage in the northern Netherlands, the HyStock project. Gasunie agreed to become a partner in the H2CAST project last January (2023), in collaboration with Storag Etzel. This project saw Gasunie take responsibility for the above-ground facility to connect the two caverns, with the project targeted to be ready in 2026. Gasunie has been involved in the plans to develop the HyPerLink network since 2022, after the Dutch Government announced the project. The network received €750m ($786m) of investment, with Gasunie positioned to develop the network over the coming years, Once completed, the company will operate the transmission system while also playing a role in the storage and import of hydrogen to feed the network. The network will connect seaports with large industrial clusters in the Netherlands and establish connections with Germany and Belgium. For 10 years, Gasunie subsidiary EnergyStock has been storing hydrogen in underground salt caverns due to its “proven safety” making it a “promising option for the storage of hydrogen.” https://lnkd.in/d7BT5qi4

Everfuel signed an LoI to supply up to 10000 tpa of #renewable #Hydrogen to a German industrial offtaker. This key milestone serves to show that demand for hydrogen is there and, is looking to be served across EU borders. This is an exciting development for both #upstream, #midstream and #downstream sectors beacuase cross border trade of H2 requires cross-border infrastructure capacity. With this new milestone, we are getting closer to demonstrating the need for robust infrastructure to be in place to serve robust demand for hydrogen.

Everfuel is pleased to announce that we have signed a Letter of Intent for supplying up to 10,000 tons of green hydrogen yearly to a #German industrial partner.  “On 5 April 2024 the Danish government announced that it is willing to take majority of the investment risk of the Danish hydrogen backbone if market participants provide sufficient commitment. Today’s agreement is a cross-border confirmation of the willingness from Everfuel and our partner to show such a commitment. The 5 May 2024 Everfuel responded to Energinet’s (Danish TSO) market exploration deadline for backbone capacity reservation. Everfuels indication of capacity reservation included a significant commitment, which also includes the German industrial offtaker, and is showing Everfuel dedication to make large scale green hydrogen production and distribution happen,” said Jacob Krogsgaard, founder and CEO of Everfuel. “Developers like Everfuel work hard to mature portfolios of scalable projects to ensure production capacity and redundancy in our operations to verify industry commitments. It is crucial for Everfuel and our partners to understand the timing and cost associated with using the upcoming infrastructure. Salzgitter AG and Uniper SE have signed a preliminary agreement for the delivery and purchase of green hydrogen. This is to be produced in the large-scale electrolysis plant planned by Uniper, which is scheduled to go into operation in Wilhelmshaven in 2028. The green #hydrogen is required for the #SALCOS® – Salzgitter Low CO2 Steelmaking program and will be used in the direct reduction plant under construction in Salzgitter to produce almost #CO2-neutral steel. Both companies want to make a significant contribution to reducing the carbon footprint of the German steel industry. The subject of the preliminary contract is, among other things, the technical and commercial framework conditions for hydrogen delivery. Depending on the availability of the German H2 core network or a specific pipeline route from Wilhelmshaven to Salzgitter, Uniper could deliver up to 20,000 tons of certified green hydrogen to Salzgitter annually from 2028 at the earliest. Gunnar Groebler, CEO of Salzgitter AG: “With SALCOS® we are a pioneer in the decarbonization of the basic materials industry. When implementing the program, we relied on a network of strong partners right from the start. The production and availability of green hydrogen is a central success criterion for SALCOS®. AUSTRALIA UNVEILS $50 BILLION PLAN TO LEAD GLOBAL GREEN HYDROGEN MARKET [OilPrice.com] Australia looks to develop domestic green hydrogen industry and export clean hydrogen in a bid to become a global hydrogen leader, the government of one of the world’s top LNG exporters said.   The Australian government published its new National Hydrogen Strategy, which identifies objectives and actions to take and underpin delivery of Australia’s hydrogen industry at scale. The key to the government’s plan is funding through an estimated US$5.4 billion (AUS$8 billion) allocation made in this year’s Federal Budget. The funding will support the green Hydrogen Production Tax Incentive program, and the expanded green Hydrogen Headstart program, the government said. With the new hydrogen strategy unveiled today, the government expects the incentives to unlock US$33.6 billion (AUS$50 billion) in private sector investment in the clean hydrogen industry. Under the plan, Australia’s annual domestic production capacity is expected to exceed 1 million tons of green hydrogen by 2030.
