The EasyFill TurnLoader offers significant benefits for retail spaces, including 33% more shelf space, up to 70% shorter refill times, a reduction in markdowns by up to 40%, and 100% compliance with FIFO sequence. These advantages lead to cost savings and environmental protection.
FIFO (First In, First Out) improves inventory management by ensuring the oldest stock is sold or used first, reducing waste from expired products and optimizing storage space. This method enhances efficiency and financial performance by minimizing the costs associated with holding and managing inventory.

⚙️🔁 Rip Van Wafels Automation 🔁⚙️
Each of our large scale flow wrapping machines can portion package 14k Rip Van Wafels/hr.
When we started selling #stroopwafels a decade ago, we were handpicking each wafel one by one. The process of filling, sealing and stickering each packet took 35 seconds/packet/person. That’s 100 wafels/hr.
Large scale automation has improved efficiency by 140x as it just takes one person to monitor the packing equipment in action.
100/hr —> 14000/hr
It’s amazing to see this state of the art #Italian packaging engineering at work. Combining craft baking techniques with automation has enabled us to unlock the supply needed to expand distribution nationally omnichannel.

Here’s something you wouldn’t expect: Next™ pushing a full-grown polar bear, straight through powdery snow! 🐻❄️
And you really shouldn’t expect that either – polar bears can weigh up to 700 kilograms, that would be insane. Next™ -is- however more capable in sub-zero environments than most (automated fronting systems).
So, how could you take advantage of Next’s cool skills?
☝️💡 While being a natural born star on crossbars in coolers and freezers, Next™ can also elevate visibility by creating a stellar product wall for chocolate (pushing bars instead of bears)!
➡️Effects: Automated front-facing is labour-saving and improves product and price visibility.
❔ What would you suggest using Next™ for?
Do share your ideas – since we're global, we could inspire each other to create better shopping experiences around the world!

Innovation curation was on full display at Foxtrot, the Upland team’s new favorite spot during some recent work sessions in Chicago. With disruptor brands like Mayawell Bubbly Prebiotic Soda in beverage to Popadelics Crunchy Mushroom Chips in snacks, the shop was truly a delight to visit. Hands-down our favorite item was the Coffee Date Smoothie, a collaboration between Foxtrot x La Colombe Coffee Roasters featuring Medjool dates and white miso blended with La COLOMBE's cold brew. Perfection!
For a recent #foresight and #strategy project, we spoke with Chris Walton, an omnichannel retail expert, about emerging store formats like Foxtrot and other curated retailers (Pop-Up Grocer in NYC, Wine+Eggs in LA) – and how they are reducing the choice overload often found at larger stores.
Curated retailers make shopping more convenient because consumers can rely on them to vet products and brands. As Chris explained to us, “Foxtrot is interesting because they're trying to go upscale. They're doing convenience differently.”
As the corner store evolves, what will this mean for the future of #cstores and, in particular, their product assortments?

This month, excerpts from our recent interview are featured in Supermarket News Magazine, discussing packaging design and labelling. Sustainability has been a driver of innovation in packaging design, and where we need to start if we are to reduce waste and minimise environmental harm.
The article also highlights how perceptions of food safety can be conveyed through materials, which is why Supermarket News initially approached us, as our straws use food-grade glue and soy-based inks, certified compostable under OK compost INDUSTRIAL (EN 13432) and home composting under OK compost HOME, certifications which impose restrictions on harmful additives.
Paper straws present a need for the upcoming government regulation of PFAS in makeup to extend to a broader range of consumer products.
Many people are unaware of how straw paper fibres are held together and how their resistance to liquid is achieved. Many of these glues and adhesives will have per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) added.
The article also speaks to end-of-life communications on packaging, which is highly relevant considering recent changes to recycling. Consider a food product packaged Low-Density Polyethylene (#4). That company is now required to remove the chasing arrows symbol as this material is no longer considered recyclable in Aotearoa, New Zealand.
A lot to digest here. Head to the link below to read the full article on pages 33 and 34.
