Much of what is considered normal on earth, becomes a luxury or absolute necessity in space. From simply disinfecting surfaces to having healthy, breathable air. On earth, you would spray and wipe surfaces, while being able to easily ventilate the environment.  The scenario is very different in space but are pathogen still the same? Yes.  Can you just open a window for fresh air? No.  Energy security for operating life-support systems is critical and any failure puts life at risk. Simple matters become complex to manage, especially when weight and available payload space become an issue. As I reflect on the stunning spectacle of the total solar eclipse today, I can't help but draw parallels with the journey of finding the right candidate for a job. The atmospheres in Neptune, Uranus, and Saturn have such extreme pressure that they can crystallize carbon atoms and turn them into diamonds, American Scientist reports. How do we know this scientific fact? Researchers were able to create the correct conditions in a lab to prove this occurs on Neptune and Uranus.
