We love pets, and across the world, millions of happy pets are part of loving families and communities. But some pets aren’t so lucky. In fact, millions of dogs and cats are homeless, either roaming the streets or living in shelters. It’s why we, in partnership with leading animal welfare organizations, are launching the State of Pet Homelessness Project: the largest ever study into the scale and causes of pet homelessness, bringing data and insight that will help treat the root causes, not just the symptoms. “For every two dogs or cats that are part of a family or community in the countries surveyed, there is another one that is not so fortunate”, says our Global President Mars Petcare Loic Moutault. “That is not the world we want for pets, and we hope this data will help drive targeted interventions to give more pets the life they deserve.” Get to know more about this open-source data project by visiting https://lnkd.in/edwJ8XZq. #ABetterWorldForPets #StateOfPetHomelessnessProject
What a great initiative. Understanding the causes is one of the keys to the solution however simply educating people, especially children, on what it means to have a pet and how to treat pets is also critical. I trust the research will reach all corners of the globe?
This research provides very valuable information, that helps all of us supporting our cause with evidence and numbers. Thank you so much Mars for your involvement in this matter. We need companies to stand by us.
Fantastic initiative that will no doubt make a huge difference for pets across the globe. Proud to have seen this work up close and personal in South Africa with the Mars Ambassador Program!
HSI is proud to collaborate with Mars on this fantastic initiative to understand the scope and scale of pet homelessness, which will help inform our work together to address and solve the root causes. Thank you Mars for your partnership and generous support of our work to help pets and people around the world! 😺 🐶
If ya can't love em for the long haul, don't own em...period
A pivotal piece of research about pet homelessness - kudos to Joanna Gale and her team for curating this vast undertaking! The International Partnership for Dogs (IPFD) is honored to be part of this project. We are very excited to have Joanna Gale be our keynote speaker at our International Dog Health Workshop in Helsinki in June of this year to discuss the research project!
Proud to be a part of this project. The information is desperately needed so that we all can make informed decisions in how we help people and pets. Thank you, Mars, for the effort that went into compiling this vast resource!
We rescued/asopted our cavalier King Charles from what would of been a horrible life in a puppy farm , he’s now 6 and is more than a family member as he brings so much joy to our family and was clearly instrumental in my dads fight with Dementia. I would put animals over humans in a heatbeat

9moWe adopted our Boxer rescue almost 2 years ago. He started out with his original owners then something happened because he ended up as a stray on the streets. He was picked up and landed in a shelter then went to Boxer foster care and then we adopted him. We are his 5th home before he was a year old. He needs attention and in many ways is like a baby in how you treat him because he had a rough start to life.
