MARTA has been awarded $25 million for construction of the South DeKalb Transit Hub through the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) Buses and Bus Facilities Program. The approximately 2500 square foot multimodal hub will serve four high ridership bus routes bordering Georgia’s 4th and 5th Congressional Districts: Route 15 (Candler Road), Route 186 (Rainbow Way), Route 74 (Flat Shoals), and Route 9 (Boulevard/Tilson Road). Being built adjacent to the Gallery at South DeKalb on Candler Road, and with park and ride availability, the hub will provide a safe, sheltered space to catch or transfer buses and purchase fare, and feature real-time service information and SMART restrooms which use technology to keep the facilities safe and maintained. The Ontario Government | Gouvernement de l’Ontario has officially broken ground at Pape Station, marking the start of #construction to build a new interchange station connecting the Ontario Line with the TTC’s Line 2 (Bloor-Danforth). “The Ontario Line Pape Station will be a critical interchange for commuters by cutting some travel times by more than half and helping reduce gridlock for drivers across the city,” said Prabmeet Sarkaria, Ontario Ministry of Transportation/ Ministère des Transports de l’Ontario Minister. “Under the leadership of Premier Ford, our government will continue to get this historic project done, creating thousands of good-paying local jobs and ensuring Toronto’s place as a world-class city for generations to come.” Construction at Pape Station is now underway with work to build the foundations required for excavations that will ultimately connect the two subway lines. The new station will serve tens of thousands of commuters every day, facilitating more than 9,000 transfers during the morning rush hour alone and reducing crowding on Line 1 (Yonge-University) by 15 per cent and Line 2 by over 20 per cent. #infrastructure Metrolinx, Infrastructure Ontario, Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) https://lnkd.in/gmDSN2Qe

Tunnel, no; bus lane, yes. Commonwealth is a classic example of “one more lane” will just make congestion worse. But induced demand works both ways: an exclusive bus lane + QC’s existing bike lanes is a step towards increasing its capacity today - not in 2029. https://lnkd.in/gZCGBWiE

GOVERNOR HOCHUL, MAYOR ADAMS AND PORT AUTHORITY ANNOUNCE AGREEMENT TO SUPPORT REPLACEMENT OF MIDTOWN BUS TERMINAL Governor Kathy Hochul, New York City Mayor Eric Adams and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey today announced a new agreement to support the $10 billion replacement and expansion of the 73-year-old Port Authority Bus Terminal in Midtown Manhattan. Recognizing the importance and catalytic potential of the project, the city has committed 40 years of tax revenue — expected to help the Port Authority raise an estimated total of up to $2 billion, 20 percent of the project cost — from three potential new commercial developments on three sites, two of which will be positioned atop the new bus terminal and the third to be built at a nearby site owned by the Port Authority and private owners, subject to market demand. This deal brings the vision of a reimagined bus terminal one step closer to reality. Read the full press release here: https://lnkd.in/eyfW48G3

If you missed Friday's tutorial on the BRT, you have another chance to come check it out, ask questions, get familiar with the new stations
It’s been a week! I had the pleasure to assist with two sneak peek tours of Madison’s new BRT system as we gear up for the launch on September 22 and have been fielding lots of questions about red bus lanes and other aspects of the new system. As construction wraps up we are offering 2 community open houses for people to come check out a station, board one of the new all-electric articulated buses, pick up a new fast fare card and have any of your lingering questions answered! These are open to community stakeholders and the general public and we hope you can stop by. Here are the details: 🗓️ Friday, Sept 6: 12-3 pm 🗓️ Tuesday, Sept 10: 4-7 pm 📍Baldwin Station (E. Wash & Baldwin St) City of Madison, WI

🚉 Introducing East Harbour Transit Hub (EHTH) 🚉 Situated strategically between Union Station and Danforth GO Station, EHTH is set to become a vital hub for commuters traveling on the Lakeshore East and Stouffville GO lines. But it doesn't stop there. This is not just another stop on the map; it's a dynamic interchange station designed to seamlessly connect GO service to the future Ontario Line subway, ensuring connectivity for commuters and safeguarding accessibility for future TTC streetcars. We're excited to embark on this journey with you, sharing insights into the early stages of our construction project. As a collaborative effort between leading industry players—Bird Construction, AtkinsRéalis, Hatch, and our partner Metrolinx—the East Harbour Transit Hub Alliance is pioneering an innovative approach to large-scale construction projects, making the process more efficient and cost-effective. An Alliance framework is an innovative model that is more efficient and cost effective for large construction projects (but more on that later!). Stay tuned as we shape not just a station, but your neighborhood. Together, we're building more than a transit hub; we're creating connections that will transform the way you travel and the way we deliver infrastructure. #AllianceConstruction #TorontoTransit #TorontoInfrastructure #OntarioInfrastructure #EastHarbourTransitHub #EastHarbour #EastHarbourTransitHubAlliance #EHTH
