2 Generations of Smithsonite: #Smithsonite, or zinc spar, is zinc carbonate (ZnCO3), a mineral ore of zinc. Historically, smithsonite was identified with hemimorphite before it was realised that they were two distinct minerals. This Sample is from #Angouran #Mine (Anguran Mine), #Sheykhlar, #Zanjan #Province, #Iran. A Zinc Mine in Iran owned by NILZCO; It's VMS type deposit, located about 300 km NW of Teheran, and 120 km W of Zenjan. The deposit is worked from an open pit (the largest one in Iran). One of the major zinc producers in Iran. The main ore is smithsonite.

Lahontan Gold Corp Reports Cn-Soluble Gold up to 91.5% at Calvada Kimberly Ann, Lahontan founder, CEO, president, and director commented, “The company is excited to receive these results from KCA which continue to confirm the high potential recoveries from oxide gold mineralization at the Santa Fe Mine Project. The absence of any significant preg-robbing potential across multiple mineralization types bodes well for future mine operations. We will continue met testing based on recommendations from KCA to further optimize the processing flow sheet which will be utilized in our upcoming preliminary economic assessment that will analyze the economic upside of resuming precious metal production at Santa Fe.” Read more here: https://hubs.la/Q02NVC6K0 #TSXV #LG

Where is the next big #copper #discovery going to come from? How big is big? Does the deposit style matter in terms of control or limitation on size? The largest known #magmatic copper #sulphide deposit is #Norilsk - #Talnakh, in Siberia which is estimated to host approximately 20Mt of contianed copper. The #platreef #stratiform magmatic sulphide deposit (#ivanhoe mines) in the #bushveld region of South Africa contains around 2.7Mt of contained copper however also hosts over 30 million ounces of #PGE and #gold, along with approximately 4.6Mt of contained #nickel. The stratiform copper deposits of the Central African #Copperbelt are said to contain a combined 200 million tonnes of contianed copper metal, with one of the largest resources considered to be #kamoa-#Kakula, which boasts aroubd 43Mt of contained copper. The #Escondida #porphyry Cu deposit in Chile contains around 30Mt of contained copper. Then we have the giant Olympic dam #IOCG deposit in South Austrlaia, which contains around 80Mt of contained copper. Finally, the Neves-Corvo #Volcanic #massive sulphide deposit in Portugal is one of the largest #VMS copper resources hosting approximately 14.6Mt of contained copper. All of these deposits are #polymetallic, hosting large amounts of high-value accessory metals such as gold, platinum group elements and nickel.

American Mineralogist: Zhengminghuaite, a new sulfosalt mineral from the Zimudang Carlin-type gold deposit in southwestern Guizhou, China https://lnkd.in/gUEFJ22w Sulfosalts are a large family of minerals that have been reported in a wide variety of hydrothermal gold and other metal deposits, including Carlin-type gold deposits that often contain Hg-Tl-As-Sb sulfides and sulfosalts. Zhengminghuaite, ideally Cu6Fe3As4S12, is a new Cu-Fe arsenosulfosalt found in the Zimudang Carlin-type gold deposit in southwestern Guizhou, China, and reported here by Gu et al. Ore paragenetic sequence and phase relationship indicate that zhengminghuaite and associated Hg-Tl-As sulfosalts formed after the bulk gold mineralization of the main ore stage, during the transition from Fe-Cu sulfides (pyrite ± arsenopyrite ± chalcopyrite) to As-sulfides (realgar ± orpiment) as the fS2 of the ore fluid increased by 1-2 log units and the temperature decreased by up to 100 °C. The occurrence of zhengminghuaite and its paragenetic relationship to other ore and gangue minerals provide insights into the evolutionary history of hydrothermal fluids and the physicochemical conditions of ore formation for Carlin-type gold deposits.

Most promotional videos generated by mining companies just don't get their message across to the general public because they present things that are important to the company rather than the intended audience. Here is one for the Sukkary mine in Egypt that takes a different approach. Obviously it is designed for the modern culture of Egyptian society, but it has some key lessons that western mining industry could learn from. 1. It presents the orebody as a national treasue. 2. The people who work there are presented as heros (not the mining company). 3. They stress that the mine is not a burden on the state. 4. There is no virtue signalling which would instantly brand the video as green white or pink "washing". 5. It appeals to the "we can do this" national pride attitude. With 9300 views in two years, this video has clearly gained much more traction that most mining industry promotion videos in the western world. There is a lot to learn here. Interested in your thoughts Dr Haydon Mort and others at the coal face of public opinion. https://lnkd.in/gyEbBt9M

#ManganeseOre is primarily composed of manganese minerals along with various impurities. The key manganese minerals are #Pyrolusite, #Manganite, #Braunite, #Hausmannite, #Cryptomelane, #Rhodochrosite, #Todorokite. Mineralogy tests are crucial for determining the quality and grade of manganese ore, optimizing beneficiation and metallurgical processes, and ensuring the ore meets industrial specifications. They provide insights into the geological formation and resource estimation, help mitigate environmental impacts by identifying harmful minerals, and support economic viability through cost-benefit analysis. In essence, these tests ensure the efficient, sustainable, and economically viable extraction and processing of manganese ore. We offer comprehensive X-ray Diffraction (#XRD) services for the analysis of manganese ore and other minerals. Our state-of-the-art XRD facilities enable detailed mineralogical studies to determine the composition, structure, and quality of ore samples.

C3 Metals Inc. (TSXV: CCCM) Inc announced that additional drill holes at its Provost target at the Bellas Gate project in Jamaica have confirmed bornite #mineralization. It said drillhole PVT0825-001 (596.7 metres) intersected 280.7 metres at 0.37% #copper and 0.21 grams per ton (g/t) #gold (0.52% copper equivalent) from 227 metres, including 61.7 metres at 0.50% copper and 0.39 g/t gold (0.77% copper equivalent) from 446 metres. C3 believes PVT0825-001 may have “clipped” the top of the bornite core of the porphyry system, with bornite, hypogene chalcocite mineralization, and potassic alteration confirmed at about 500 metres depth. It said the presence of bornite mineralization and potassic alteration corresponded with a spike in grades to 1.14% copper and 1.19 g/t gold (1.98% copper equivalent) over a 2.5-metre interval.
