✈ Offsites need to be carefully and strategically developed with clear goals in mind.
Our offsite was an experiment in building a strong foundation for our team.
For a company that has grown rapidly in the last six months, we knew that building trust, warmth and respect amongst our team was key.
On a basic level, ensuring everyone knew what the other did, who to go to and why, really mattered. But thinking about the bigger picture, we wanted to foster our values, and really bring people together to be motivated about our mission and see the important roles we all played within it.
That meant a Town Hall (which was the first one for many of our new team members) and a hypothetical case study where each team presented on their part of the journey.
The results?
· A clear understanding of everyone’s roles in the process
· A great overview of how the full process works
· Respect for each team member and their expertise and experience
· Brilliant questions and suggestions on how to streamline and improve the process even more
It is too easy for businesses to develop in silos, and whilst that hyperfocus on your own role and goals can be great for results, none of that matters if it falls apart down the line. If we win, we win as a team.
Lots of our team members said this was one of the best parts of the trip (which is saying something, considering the absolutely amazing food and wine!)
“The case study was one of my favourite moments – as someone who is still relatively new, getting to see the whole process beginning to end, really showed how integral everyone is. I was also just so impressed by what experts my new colleagues are. From logistics, to testing, to business development, everyone is so good at what they do.’ Andi Michael Forsythe Content Marketing Manager
"To help our customers navigate the operating change that comes with implementing Ambimization, it's important that all areas of Terrafend's business work seamlessly together. This was a great opportunity to develop a better understand of how everyone fits into that overall picture." Ross Ward, Business Development Manager
We’ll be sharing a few key insights to our offsite and how we feel it’s helped us build a strong and powerful foundation for the next stage of the Terrafend journey.

4moThanks all I really appreciate all the support & emails on potential discussions on the forward. Giving a teaser for this coming week's blog inspired by folks who wrote me. I love this image! The framework depicted was created by the Surgeon General, Dr. Vivek Murthy, back in October 2022. It is his "Framework for Workplace Mental Health and Well-Being,". His initiative was developed in response to the heightened focus on mental health & workplace well-being exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. The framework emphasizes five key components to ensure the mental health and well-being of workers: Protection from Harm, Connection and Community, Work-Life Harmony, Mattering at Work, & Opportunities for Growth. This framework was intended for leaders and employers across various industries to help them create work environments that support the mental health & well-being of their employees. It serves as a guide to developing, institutionalizing, & updating policies & practices that are mindful of workers' mental health needs & overall well-being. More to come in this week's blog. For now, enjoy friends and family and your weekend!
