This information came to light through many people advocating in this space and also #whistleblowers reporting the risks. This includes reports to the Disability Royal Commission, to the Human Rights Commission and to the Children’s Commissioner. Brave health care professionals, counsellors, those working in the system raising concerns through the appropriate channels. Lawyers and community advocates. People in the systems wanting change. So reflect on this if you are the HR manager shutting down the employee who speaks up. If you are the operations manager asking the “canary in the coal mine” to step out of the continuous improvement workshops because they are raising too many risks. Reflect on this if you are the EAP provider and you are counselling the employees working in the systems with burnout who are so distressed by what they are witnessing. And reflect on this if you are the lawyer they hire to fire the #whistleblower. And reflect on this if you are the corrupt politician who knows the reports are being edited. The whistleblowers are being threatened into silence and having their credibility destroyed.
