📣This September join with colleagues to learn from parents with lived experience of child sexual and criminal exploitation. Professionals who attended the Lived Experience Conference in Manchester this year said: "This was the most powerful conference I've been and it completely changed my perspective on parents work." "To say that the inputs from the parents were impactful is an obvious understatement. Following the conference, I have doubled my efforts to include and involve parents in policing decisions affecting their children and ensure that I deal with the whole family with humanity." This information came to light through many people advocating in this space and also #whistleblowers reporting the risks. This includes reports to the Disability Royal Commission, to the Human Rights Commission and to the Children’s Commissioner. Brave health care professionals, counsellors, those working in the system raising concerns through the appropriate channels. Lawyers and community advocates. People in the systems wanting change. So reflect on this if you are the HR manager shutting down the employee who speaks up. If you are the operations manager asking the “canary in the coal mine” to step out of the continuous improvement workshops because they are raising too many risks. Reflect on this if you are the EAP provider and you are counselling the employees working in the systems with burnout who are so distressed by what they are witnessing. And reflect on this if you are the lawyer they hire to fire the #whistleblower. And reflect on this if you are the corrupt politician who knows the reports are being edited. The whistleblowers are being threatened into silence and having their credibility destroyed. 🔶 Did you know there are various forms of modern slavery? 🔶 Modern-day slavery encompasses numerous forms of exploitation and forced labor, often involving the coercion and control of individuals. Some of the most common forms of modern-day slavery include: 🔸 Forced Labor 🔸 Human Trafficking 🔸 Debt Bondage 🔸 Child Labor 🔸 Sex Trafficking 🔸 Domestic Servitude 🔸 Forced Marriage 🔸 Child Soldiers 🔸 Organ Trafficking 🔸 Child Trafficking and Child Exploitation It’s important to note that these forms of modern-day slavery often overlap, and individuals can be subjected to multiple forms of exploitation simultaneously. Eradicating modern-day slavery requires a multi-faceted approach involving legal measures, awareness campaigns, victim support services, and international cooperation. To that end, Not For Sale is actively working to combat various forms of modern-day slavery within the context of these different categories. Today we celebrate Juneteenth, marking the day the Emancipation Proclamation reached the last outpost in America. However, the 13th Amendment’s Exception Clause allowed forced prison labor to continue, creating a legacy of exploitation and modern-day slavery. At #PDMNola, we're committed to addressing these injustices by advocating for fair treatment and human rights for all incarcerated individuals. Our work focuses on educating the public, pushing for policy reforms, and supporting those affected by the criminal justice system. By collaborating with community leaders and organizations, we strive to dismantle systemic racism and end legal slavery in the United States. https://nyti.ms/3Xu48N2 #PDMNola #pdm #NewOrleans #PDMNola504 #FoxandRob #richfamilyministries #PromiseofJusticeInitiative #PublicWelfareFoundation #SiliconValleyDeBug #FoundationforLouisiana #NewOrleansCommunitySupportFoundation

Greetings!!! Domestic Violence Act and why it is important to understand it. The speaker starts the video by asking the viewer to ponder on the fact that knowledge is power and understanding the Domestic Violence Act equips you with the power to protect yourself and others from harm. The Domestic Violence Act, often referred to as the DVA, is a significant piece of legislation designed to protect individuals from physical, emotional, sexual and financial abuse within domestic relationships. It is a Beacon of Hope, a protective shield for those who are at risk of domestic violence. The video then breaks down how the Domestic Violence Act functions. The key components include: A broad definition of domestic violence: It is not just physical assault, it covers emotional, sexual and economic abuse as well. This includes any behavior that harms, injures, endangers the health, safety, life, limb or well-being of the victim. Protection orders: Once a person lodges a complaint of domestic violence, the court can issue a protection order. This order prevents the accused from committing any form of violence against the victim. Penalties for offenders: Anyone found guilty of domestic violence can face severe penalties, including imprisonment and fines. The speaker then talks about the pros and cons of the Domestic Violence Act. The Act is praised for its broad definition of domestic violence, which ensures that victims of all forms of abuse can seek redress under the law. However, the Act has been criticized for its implementation. There are concerns about delays in the issuance of protection orders and the enforcement of penalties, which could potentially undermine the effectiveness of the Act. The video concludes by saying that knowledge of the Domestic Violence Act is an essential tool in the fight against domestic violence. It provides a legal framework for the protection of victims and the punishment of offenders. But remember, the effectiveness of this Act lies in its enforcement. So if you or someone you know is a victim of domestic violence, reach out to a trusted Law Firm like Saam Law Associates. They can guide you through the process, ensuring that your rights are protected under the law. https://lnkd.in/gRSzjr5h Sincerely, Sairam Law Associates Team, 9611195911 | 9900984444 #SairamLawAssociates #LegalServices #LegalAdvice #FamilyLaw #Divorce #ChildCustody #DomesticViolence #RCR #Alimony #Maintenance #DowryHarassment #BailMatters #DVAct #RealEstateLaw #LegalDraft #DocumentsVerification #MarriageRegistrations #RegisterMarriage #KhataTransfers #PropertyRegistrations #PropertyDocuments #ChannelPartner #PropertiesForSale #SubRegistrarOffice #Registrations #BBMP #BDA #CMC #BMRDA #Khata #KhataTransfer #Bangalore
