The fall semester is still two months away, but college faculty know it is time for course text adoptions. I am honored that my new textbook, Homeland Security Law: Issues and Analysis, has already been adopted by a few university programs. I am also grateful to Ashley Heiberger, J.D., retired Captain City of Bethlehem Police Department, U.S. DOJ Police Practices expert, for the following positive review: "In this second edition, Professor Dwyer has again produced a comprehensive text which provides an excellent foundation in the legal environment surrounding homeland security. This is a well-organized volume that skillfully blends foundational concepts of political science and constitutional law into a very readable work. The topical explanations are detailed and focused, and the analyses of legal issues are nuanced and sound. This work is a significant and valuable contribution to the study of homeland security." Ilya Shapiro is senior fellow and director of constitutional studies at the Manhattan Institute and a Freedom Conservatism signatory. He is the author of, among other books, “Supreme Disorder: Judicial Nominations and the Politics of America's Highest Court”, which Georgetown law professor Randy Barnett labeled “an indispensable resource for understanding our constitutional history.” Shapiro’s new book, “Lawless: The Miseducation of America's Elites”, is due out in early 2025. “Shapiro reveals how the warping of higher ed — and especially the illiberal takeover of legal education — is transforming our country. We’re handing the reins of power to lawless radicals who will be America’s future judges, prosecutors, politicians, and presidents. Unless we stop it now, the consequences will be with us for decades.” You can read more about #FreeCon authors here: https://lnkd.in/etWzpzUu

Kamala Harris will nominate good judges as president of the United States. She has vast experience in dealing with and appointing good judges. -As a deputy district attorney in Alameda County for 4 years, she appeared before judges of all backgrounds daily. -Elected as the district attorney of San Francisco County for 7 years, she worked with 55 judges on a daily basis -When she was attorney general of California for 6 years, she was one of three people who approved all appointments to the California Supreme Court and the California appellate courts. She approved 3 justices for the CA Supreme Court. Goodwin Liu was a professor at Berkeley Law on the subjects of constitutional law, educational law, and the US Supreme Court. Mariano-Florentino Cuellar was the Director of the Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies at Stanford Law School. Leondra Kruger was an assistant to the United States Solicitor General and argued 12 cases before the US Supreme Court. -Kamala approved 7 appellate judges for the California appellate courts. -That’s a total of 17 years dealing with and approving the appointments of judges. - She developed an important insight into what makes a good judge, a fair judge, a non-political judge, and a scholarly judge. Nominating judges who must then be confirmed by the US Senate judiciary committee is one of the most important functions of a president. In the months ahead I will from time-to-time state things that I know are true and come from a reliable source about Kamala Harris. #harris2024 #kamala #kamalaharris #potus #vp #experience #judiciary #attorneyatlaw
