Ryan Palmer has been with our team for over a year, yet his connection with Mas and his passion for apprenticeships date back to his school-leaving days. "I knew I wanted a trade when I left school and applied to complete an electrical apprenticeship through the Australian Army. They unfortunately weren't recruiting for them at the time and I took a job working with the helicopters within the Aviation Corp," he said. After his discharge, Ryan chose to move to the UK for a working holiday to gain international experience. At that time, his father, who was a member of our team, discovered an opening for an electrical apprenticeship. A single phone call from his dad about this opportunity was all it took for Ryan to book his next flight home and begin his career in the Building and Construction Industry. Ryan built a solid career in the field, taking on roles like Leading Hand, Business Manager, and in Business Development. After nearly ten years, he decided to switch his career focus to employment and VET training. "I am such a believer in what VET training can help you achieve in your life," he said. It has been over a year since Ryan, once our apprentice, became our Business Engagement & Workforce Development Consultant in SA. "I now have the privilege of working for Mas National, helping to create pathways for others in the VET space," Ryan shared. Ryan is here to demonstrate how apprenticeships can significantly improve lives. "I wouldn't be where I am in my career without my apprenticeship experience, nor would I be the person I am today without it," he added. Now, we'd love to hear from you. How has VET changed your life? #Apprenticeships #Traineeships #Employment #Careers #Growth #VET #Training #MasNational #IntoWorkAustralia

#NationalApprenticeshipWeek #NAW24 🛠️ 👋 Meet Cian Jones! Nuaire's Manufacturing Technician Apprentice, who started with us in September 2022. We interviewed Cian below, to find out exactly what he does in his Apprentice role, and importantly, what he enjoys doing the most... 👨🔧 👉 What is required of you in the Apprenticeship role? In my role I am required to memorise and recognise patterns to help me fault find and resolve issues in production. As well as this, I am required to be attentive and focused when dealing with various problems. 👉 What valuable skills have you developed since starting your Apprenticeship? Since starting my Apprenticeship, I have developed valuable skills such as communication through dealing with many people and different departments within the company. Not only this, I am able to be decisive and logical with my thinking when tasked with difficult decisions. 👉 Would you recommend Nuaire as an employer to someone who is interested in an Apprenticeship role? I would definitely recommend Nuaire as an employer to someone looking for an Apprenticeship role because of the people within the company, and the support I've received technically and personally. 👉 What do you enjoy the most? What I enjoy most in the role is making an impact by solving problems tasked for me in production, as well as providing assistance across the shop floor wherever I can. We are extremely proud of our exceptional Apprentices here at Nuaire and we will continue to celebrate them, and their achievements throughout all of their careers. 👏 #OurApprentices #Nuaire

Our next apprentice we would like to shout about this National Apprenticeship Week is Harvey Taylor, our HSEQ Apprentice who joined the business in November 2023. He is currently working towards a Level 3 in Health and Safety. 𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙢𝙖𝙙𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙖𝙥𝙥𝙡𝙮 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙖𝙣 𝙖𝙥𝙥𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙘𝙚𝙨𝙝𝙞𝙥 𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙧 𝙖𝙣𝙤𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙝𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙚𝙙𝙪𝙘𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙩𝙚? Personally, I chose an apprenticeship because I wanted to start in a position where I can develop myself and a role that I believe I can succeed in. In an apprenticeship, you can start to get job experience and develop an understanding of how work is because it’s massively different to other educational routes. 𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙩𝙮𝙥𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙡 𝙙𝙖𝙮-𝙩𝙤-𝙙𝙖𝙮 𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙥𝙤𝙣𝙨𝙞𝙗𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙚𝙨? My day-to-day responsibilities consist of various tasks but mainly filling out monthly returns, ordering PPE, or other equipment for site managers, quoting prices for equipment and completing risk assessments. 𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙖𝙙𝙫𝙞𝙘𝙚 𝙬𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙜𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙩𝙤 𝙖𝙣𝙮𝙤𝙣𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙪𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙩𝙖𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙖𝙣 𝙖𝙥𝙥𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙘𝙚𝙨𝙝𝙞𝙥? I would strongly agree with starting an apprenticeship as there are so many benefits to an apprenticeship. Try start one where you can make a career out of it and see yourself developing within this career in the long run. Having an apprenticeship will also give your Working experience. It's great to see another colleague of ours enjoying and taking advantage of everything an apprenticeship can offer. #NAW2024 #Apprenticeships

As #nationalapprenticeshipweek draws to a close, I wanted to share some reflections. I began as an apprentice gas engineer in 2001, and the experience has been transformative, personally and professionally. I was the youngest in my class and learned a lot from those around me; not just technical skills but life skills. I believe I continue to have an apprentice mindset - always questioning, always curious. From hands-on learning to industry-specific skills, apprenticeships offer a direct pathway into the workforce while earning a wage. They provide invaluable opportunities to learn from seasoned professionals, gain practical knowledge, and develop essential soft skills that shape a successful career. But it's not just apprentices who benefit. Employers also reap significant rewards from investing in apprenticeship training. By nurturing talent from within, businesses cultivate a skilled workforce tailored to their needs. Apprenticeships foster loyalty, dedication, and a deep understanding of company culture, ultimately driving productivity and innovation. As we celebrate National Apprenticeship Week (NAW), let's recognise the power of apprenticeships in shaping the future of industries. This is an exciting time to be an apprentice, particularly an energy apprentice. The photo below was taken on 18th February 2003 and it's of me honing my communication skills with Bill Russell, Transco Director and Iain Gray MSP, Minister for Enterprise, Transport and Lifelong Learning. If you are a Scotland-based employer, are you also saying 'aye' to #NAW?

From the Royal Aeronautical Society (RAes) Interested in an alternative career pathway into aviation and aerospace? Apprenticeship Route What is an apprenticeship? Apprenticeships are an exciting paid education option for anyone wanting to gain experience, upskill or change their career. An apprenticeship offers the chance to earn a wage whilst working and studying. Alongside on-the-job training, apprentices spend at least 20% of their working hours completing classroom-based learning with a college, university or training provider which leads to a nationally recognised qualification. There are many levels of apprenticeships, ranging from GCSE and A Level equivalent, all the way to Master's degree equivalent. There are also a limited number of degree apprenticeships, where you are paid to get your degree whilst also getting paid to gain the hands-on experience in the workplace.

I'm really enjoying this news. I'm a big fan of apprenticeships and completed one myself. There's nothing more real world and advancing than work. What a great way to balance degree-level study with on-the-job experience. #degreeapprenticeship #learning #study #skills #work #practical #realworld
