Tayla McDonald found her calling in the electrical trade during a work experience opportunity. While still pursuing her studies, Tayla already knew she wanted to become an electrician. She seized the opportunity and asked her host employer, Simon, owner of Kestell Electrical, if they could take her on as a school-based apprentice. Although new to hiring apprentices, Simon was eager to support Tayla's aspirations. Tayla discovered Mas online and learned that we could assist her in securing an Apprenticeship and streamline the process for Simon by managing all administrative duties. One of our Business Consultants contacted them to start the process and prepare the necessary paperwork. Inspired by Tayla's story? If you're still in school and curious about a career in trades, why not follow in her footsteps? Contact us today to explore your options and find an Apprenticeship that fits your passion and skills. We can help you navigate your path just like we did for Tayla! Visit www.masnational.com.au #Electrical #womenintrades #Electrotechnology #tradies #apprenticeship #intoworkaustralia #masnationa

At Mas, we believe in the power of apprenticeships to transform lives and open doors to fulfilling careers. According to the National Centre for Vocational Education Research (NCVER), there has been a notable national trend in apprenticeship outcomes. Last year, the completion rate for apprentices across Australia increased by 13.6% compared to the previous year. Additionally, the total number of apprentices in training exceeded 377,000, including 109,000 women. Apprenticeships are among the best initiatives for skilling our workforce and strengthening our economy. With our new contracts from the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations (DEWR) to deliver the Australian Government's redesigned apprenticeship support services across five states and territories, our team is excited to contribute to these growing numbers and help more individuals benefit from these excellent programs. If you're interested in learning more about apprenticeships and how they can lead you to your dream career, don't hesitate to reach out to us. Ryan Palmer has been with our team for over a year, yet his connection with Mas and his passion for apprenticeships date back to his school-leaving days. "I knew I wanted a trade when I left school and applied to complete an electrical apprenticeship through the Australian Army. They unfortunately weren't recruiting for them at the time and I took a job working with the helicopters within the Aviation Corp," he said. After his discharge, Ryan chose to move to the UK for a working holiday to gain international experience. At that time, his father, who was a member of our team, discovered an opening for an electrical apprenticeship. A single phone call from his dad about this opportunity was all it took for Ryan to book his next flight home and begin his career in the Building and Construction Industry. Ryan built a solid career in the field, taking on roles like Leading Hand, Business Manager, and in Business Development. After nearly ten years, he decided to switch his career focus to employment and VET training. "I am such a believer in what VET training can help you achieve in your life," he said. It has been over a year since Ryan, once our apprentice, became our Business Engagement & Workforce Development Consultant in SA. "I now have the privilege of working for Mas National, helping to create pathways for others in the VET space," Ryan shared. Ryan is here to demonstrate how apprenticeships can significantly improve lives. "I wouldn't be where I am in my career without my apprenticeship experience, nor would I be the person I am today without it," he added. Now, we'd love to hear from you. How has VET changed your life? #Apprenticeships #Traineeships #Employment #Careers #Growth #VET #Training #MasNational #IntoWorkAustralia

What better way to kick off National Skills Week than by sharing the incredible journey of Chris Blowes? A former apprentice turned successful builder and surf champion, Chris' story is nothing short of inspiring. Last week, Chris graced our Mas National Apprentice Connect Provider Conference in Sydney, offering a fresh perspective on overcoming challenges and setbacks. His life took a dramatic turn on Anzac Day 2015 when a shark attack during a surf session with friends left him fighting for his life and ultimately cost him a leg. Despite the odds, his resilience shone through. "I left school at the end of Year 11 to pursue my apprenticeship as a carpenter. Losing my leg made me question my abilities. But getting back to building and running my own business has given me a renewed sense of purpose. By pushing aside our limiting mindsets, you can achieve anything," Chris shared. Re-learning to walk was just the beginning for Chris. He faced numerous challenges, from navigating his disability to mastering the balance needed for climbing ladders and walking on roof trusses. Yet, he viewed each setback as a learning opportunity. Nearly a decade later, Chris has not only established a thriving building business but also represented Australia at the World Para Surf Championships in California, bringing home a trophy. He's authored a book and become a sought-after keynote speaker, inspiring others to transform setbacks into numerous possibilities. Chris also dedicates his time to coaching with Master Builders SA, helping apprentices and professionals in the building and construction industry tackle their own challenges. We're immensely grateful to Chris for sharing his motivational story at our conference. Navigating life after high school can be daunting, especially when it comes to choosing a career path. Steven Walton knows this all too well. It was during a work experience stint that Steven discovered a trade that'd change his life. “I wasn’t always sure about becoming a tradie. After high school, I felt quite lost about my future but I’ve always had a love for design. I had some connections at the Winkle Group, so I decided to give it a go. From the first day I’ve absolutely loved it,” he said. Motivated by his newfound passion, Steven pursued a Carpentry and Joinery apprenticeship with the Winkle Group. His hard work and dedication were recognised even before he completed his training, as he was recently awarded National Apprentice of the Year by the Interior Fitout Association (IFA). Steven's journey from uncertainty to award-winning apprentice was supported by our team from the start. We provided him with career advice, handled the apprenticeship administration, and facilitated a smooth transition from school to a trade career. "Mas was incredibly supportive and assisted me with everything I needed. I lacked the funds to obtain a truck license and purchase some tools, so Mas provided financial support and effectively mediated between my employer and me," Steven said. Dive deeper into Steven's inspiring story here: You can also join us in celebrating Steven's achievements in the comments below! #apprenticeship #apprenticeoftheyear #masnational #intoworkaustralia
