Really good to be back at Amazon EMA2, where my magical journey started. Pack singles station 1-27. Plus seeing my EMA2 Amazon family again. Visit today was to understand the new process of donations that had changed since my last visit. Donations has a driving force behind it, across all FCs. Not only is this beneficial to local small and large charities, it's reducing our waste, which either ends up in landfill or is liquidated by other means. Donations reduces the impact on our environment, and is so much more cost affective. The associates feel they are part of a process that is giving back to our communities and looking after our planet. Learning the process, and listening to past mistakes and failures, and what it took to find a solution that worked. I will be taking this experience back with me to EMA1. I will be going back again next week with Area Manager Pete Law, where he will see the process first hand. This will help with cross department, commission, support and cooperation between all three departments involved. What happened in the world of eCommerce recently? 1. Goodbye, Freevee - Amazon Freevee, a streaming offering by Amazon, may or may not be closing down. Some reports suggested that Amazon might be sunsetting Freevee soon but an Amazon employee called it inaccurate. This just makes one wonder that it might be inaccurate and not incorrect. 2. What's going on with Le Panier Bleu? The death of Le Panier Bleu was declared on the national radio. This is sad for Quebec local businesses but with Amazon, there may be a silver lining. 3. Quebec teams up with Amazon - Amazon is launching a portal where it will have a lot of products from Quebec. This is an initiative to boost local businesses in Quebec. 4. Another Aritzia for Vancouver - There is going to be another location for Aritzia in Vancouver. If you are a fan, watch this space for more! 5. Walmart Canada's teddy and the greater good - For every Walmart Teddy purchased between Nov. 1 and Dec. 31, Walmart Canada donated $2 to Children’s Miracle Network. Not just that, you are welcome to donate at the checkout too. Do you ever find yourself adding things to your Amazon cart but not buying them or is it just me? Okay, obviously...it's not just me. I went on Amazon to look for a new camera. I found one I thought I wanted and put it in my cart but I didn't buy it. Within 10 minutes, I received an email from Amazon reminding me that my cart had something in it. I completed the purchase right then and there. People get distracted and fail to complete their transactions. It happens with Amazon and it happens with fundraising. Now, remember, we're talking about the average donor here, which means he's not super familiar with the organization. And that means that if the light changes from red to green before he’s done donating, he may be lost forever. Unless you make it Amazon-easy to recapture him. Donor Rescue automatically sends the donor an email, a gentle reminder that he still has not completed his donation. It's a simple automation, and it's the trigger for THOUSANDS of dollars of donations. When you understand the not-so-obvious reasons why people choose to give (and not to give), you can make small tweaks that smooth the process. One of the dream companies on my list I wanted our charity The Lewis Foundation UK to partner with when we started in 2016 is Amazon. When Sonia Marshall reached out to see what support could be given to The Lewis Foundation, we were more than excited to see how we could work together to make a difference to the lives of those diagnosed with cancer in hospital via The Lewis Foundation. Some of whatever we have to look forward to together: Surplus stock donation and we received our first donation when Sonia came to visit us at our premises. Fundraising including supporting us with Franklins Solicitors LLP Franklins £50 challenge. Corporate volunteering days - looking forward to welcoming members of staff to support us in preparing and packing our gift packs ready for the hospitals. Raising awareness of our work. It was a joy for myself and Lee to visit the Amazon Fulfilment centre in Daventry today to see what happens behind the scenes, it is incredible. However, what I also loved was their commitment to giving back, sustainability, the supporting staff and the community.
