"You can’t just be a safety professional. You must be a fiber in the fabric of the organization. Too often, we set ourselves apart as the single most important thing in the organization and create our own island. And then we step back and ask why we feel so isolated." —Lance Murray, RMPE of Mark Young Construction, LLC #Leadership #SafetyLeadership #WorkplaceSafety #Construction #EHSToday

The Renaissance Leadership Odyssey is a paradigm shift integral to helping organizations change to a community-based culture centered around optimizing leadership to help achieve the organization's vision, mission, goals, strategies, objectives, and operational plans. It is not an online course or training program for leaders. It seeks to revolutionize leadership by assisting the organization with a total paradigm change process. Encompassed in the change are programs to improve leadership's psychological profile and emotional intelligence and increase every leader's and employee's interpersonal communication skills. RLO moves the current task-driven role of leaders to one of building the organization's community through cultural changes that integrate leaders and their employees throughout the organization thus optimizing all leadership and employees towards the organization's common goals. https://lnkd.in/gFJAc3Pd By changing the role of leaders and the culture of organizations, employees become more highly engaged through more transparent and empathetic leadership interaction with employees and the whole organization. RLO allows the employees to grasp the organization's vision, mission, goals, and objectives and will enable them to understand how they impact the organization, including their departments and other departments. This creates a collaborative, collegial organization that fosters harmony, unity, and a mentally safe and healthy culture for employees to thrive and grow.

On May 23, the United Aerial Firefighters Association (UAFA) held its inaugural leadership training session for member company employees, facilitated by Synergy Tahoe. Known for their diverse training experience, Synergy Tahoe has empowered groups ranging from Girl Scouts to Special Forces, and from fourth graders to Olympians. The training focused on the "ABC's" of leadership: Attitudes, Behaviors, and Cognitions. Participants engaged in discussions about effective tools, communication strategies, and organizational culture. Emphasis was placed on using the right tools at the right times, listening actively, and understanding what behaviors are rewarded, corrected, or ignored within an organization. Attendees created lists of practical tools they can implement moving forward. Leadership was also tied to mental health, highlighting the importance of leading oneself, employees, and family members effectively. UAFA Executive Director Paul Petersen shared his experience, stating, “When I was with BLM, I attended over 20 sessions and learned something new each time either about myself or others I worked with. In Nevada BLM, 90% of all fire employees have participated in this and both Nevada BLM Hotshot crews use this on an annual basis.” UAFA is planning another session in October and may host an additional session this summer for members, including administrative, billing, and non-operational staff. These sessions can be customized to suit any group or situation, making them ideal for closeouts with pilots, mechanics, seasonal after-action reviews, or leadership teams. 💭 "The standard you walk past, is the standard you accept. That goes for all of us, but especially those, who by their rank, have a leadership role" - a powerful reminder in leadership and life. Toxic behaviours exist in most teams in one form or another- these behaviours can be subtle or overt, and can very quickly erode team culture and morale, reducing psychological safety and engagement. When we choose to ignore those behaviours—bullying, exclusion, disrespect to name a few—we're essentially endorsing them and normalising them. As leaders, it's our responsibility to set the tone for what’s acceptable and practice calling out these behaviours in a respectful and empathic manner. If we let the little things slide, they grow into bigger issues. By addressing problems as they arise, we protect our teams, reinforce alignment with our values, and cultivate a culture of accountability and respect. What standards are you setting by what you tolerate today? Raising the Bar, Lifting the Future of Energy | Heavy Lift Crane and Rigging Specialist | Renewables | Operations Management | Leadership
"Leadership requires belief in the mission and unyielding perseverance to achieve victory" - Jocko Willink By definition, unyielding means not giving way to pressure. Pressure is sometimes an inevitable part of the job in the crane industry. While most leadership teams are exposed to training and education on how to navigate pressure effectively, field teams often lack exposure to this type of training and education. At Craneaholics, we believe in fostering an elevated safety culture by delivering leadership training to frontline workers, transparently communicating expectations and vision, and continuously evolving training programs for continuous improvement. We understand that the crane and rigging industry demands unwavering focus, quick decision-making, and the ability to remain calm under pressure. By equipping our frontline workers with leadership skills, we not only enhance their technical abilities but also their mental resilience. Through ongoing training and open communication, we cultivate an environment where field teams feel empowered to make informed choices, voice concerns, and maintain a steadfast commitment to safety and operational excellence, regardless of the challenges they encounter. At Craneaholics, we are committed to nurturing a generation of exceptional leaders at all levels, fostering a culture of unyielding perseverance that transcends the traditional boundaries of leadership roles. By investing in our field teams, we pave the way for a safer, more efficient, and more collaborative environment, where every individual is equipped to navigate pressure with confidence and resilience.
