Sales is all about numbers, but you also need a "not give up attitude" too. I hardly see people putting all their heart and soul into sales. So far sales is the last career option for many college students. But last year I met this guy, Souvik. Who chose sales over any other career option, I was able to see myself in him. The worst Sunday Scaries I ever experienced as a seller weren’t because I disliked my job. They weren’t because I didn’t like my leader. They weren’t because of my territory. They were because I had no idea how to be successful in my role and I dreaded every week and the failure I was consistently experiencing. It wasn’t until I figured out my own sales process and operating rhythm that things got better. From there the Sunday Scaries went away. Because I knew how to: Territory Plan Stack Rank Accounts Prioritize Top Accounts Research Accounts Create Messaging Target the Right People Do Enough Outreach Prep for Meetings Which in turn meant generating and converting more pipeline and ultimately closing more revenue. Phones running off the hook (and out of battery) But in no time we cop a salespersons archenemies… rejection! A tailwhip from a chirpy rattata. A body slam from a snoozy snorlax. Foul play from that psycho, alakazam. Without evolving past it, you’ll find salespeople never truly reach their potential. Too afraid to reach out. Scared to make new connections. Terrified of putting themselves out there (even on a platform like this). But sales is a game, and a wholesome one at that. There are better ways to play.
