PHOTOS: Customers Are King And Will Always Be Right! The idea behind the above statement in what may sound not ideal some cases, but is actually the fundamental truth in the realm of business and profitability; I discovered this principle during a two-day training session held from July 18 - 19, 2024 at Tom Associates Training titled: "How To Create Positive Customer Experience Service As An Art and A Science" The training which was generously funded by Punch Newspapers highlights their commitment to equipping staff with relevant skills needed to excel in delivering exceptional service as professionals. It was indeed an invaluable experience that surpassed expectations and I commend and appreciate the media foundation for it. Customer service etiquette emphasizes educating support representatives to ensure customers receive the service they rightfully deserve. As a politician, Mahatma Gandhi once stated, "A customer is the most important visitor on our premises. He is not dependent on us. We are dependent on him. He is not an interruption of our work. He is the purpose of it. He is not an outsider of our business. He is part of it. We are not doing him a favour by serving him. He is doing us a favour by giving us the opportunity to do so.” Dealing with customers, ranging from very tough or aggressive and irate or angry customers sometimes can be very daunting. However, it's crucial not to let emotions dictate responses, as customers are pivotal to the company's success and employees' livelihoods. Effective customer experience involves, Listen, Apologize, Solve the problem, and Thank the customer (LAST) — always in that order. Avoiding "I Don't Know" responses is essential; instead, take the time to find the best solution for their needs. The facilitators at Tom Associates Training Mrs. Debola Amubieya, and Mr. Akinloluwa Adewoye really did their best and ensured both theory and practical sessions were interactive, fostering deep understanding and enjoyment among participants – my boss, Mr. Ogunbanjo Adewale, Babatunde and Joshua at Elizade JAC motors, thank you all.
