Roth said there will be one tell-tale sign of when the channel is ready to open. "Once you see plans of moving the Dali away from the port, that's when you know the channel is ready to be open," Roth said. "In the meantime, just like we saw with the Red Sea, the system will adjust. The economy knows best and the economy will absorb it," he added. #Logistics #SupplyChain #GlobalTrade #Shipping #ImportExport #FreightForwarding #Warehousing #Valexander #InternationalShipping #SupplyChainManagement #CrossBorderTrade #TradeCompliance #MaritimeIndustry #CustomsClearance #GlobalLogistics #Transportation #CargoHandling #LogisticsSolutions #Distribution #GlobalSupplyChain #TradeRoutes #vessels #industryupdates #portchanges #vesselupdates #europe #terminaloperations #logisticsinsights #logisticainternacional #cargo #tradecompliance #regionalupdates

TRADE ALERT- I wanted to write this article to clarify what this channel is and what types of vessels are allowed in. When you listen to some tv reports it was generic and some shippers thought commercial container vessels would soon be traversing. After the recent tragedy affecting our beloved Baltimore, a lot of shippers are left wondering what to do. The JOC interviewed our VP of Strategy, Rob Burdette, for his opinion on alternative ports and what issues each bring. “Norfolk sounds appealing from the perspective of port capacity, but it doesn’t work that well for Baltimore”. If you have questions or concerns about your East Coast bound freight, please reach out and we'll be glad to provide guidance. #portofbaltimore #baltimorestrong #imports #exports #freightforwarding #globallogistics #logistics #freight #oceanfreight Full article and interview below: https://lnkd.in/eTd_zDvH

The collapse of the 47-year-old, 1.6-mile Francis Scott Key Bridge is truly a tragedy. For reference, according to Logistics Management, in 2022 our local Port of Houston ranked #5 with 1,896,711 TEU's and the Port of Baltimore ranked #12 with 502,089 TEU's. In 2023 Port of Baltimore came in at #11, handling a record breaking $80.8 billion of cargo. So what does this mean for our industry? Trucks are being processed within the Port of Baltimore marine terminals, but there will be a great deal of re-routing for a long period of time. Truck traffic is being diverted indefinitely, and cargo will need to be re-routed. As we see an influx of activity with imported goods arriving at other ports, on the ground logistics teams must be ready to mobilize. Wishing the families who have lost a loved one in this tragedy my most sincere condolences. As the Port of Baltimore rebuilds the freight logistics industry will do what we do best to limit supply disruption and keep business on track. https://lnkd.in/gNeKyx6X #FrancisScottKeyBridge #Logistics #PortLogistics #SupplyDisruption

The newly opened channel, although providing some relief, has limitations. With a depth of only 11 feet, it can accommodate only a fraction of the typical port traffic. To Read More: https://lnkd.in/dBPeSy6d #baltimore #shipping #supplychain #logistics #port #cargo #transportation #shippingsolution

Since the March 26 container ship collision that collapsed the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore, ships previously bound for the Port of Baltimore have been diverted to other ports, including the Port of Virginia. Apart from the human toll, the port’s closure means a temporary stop to about $15 million a day in daily economic activity for Baltimore, and experts estimated that the ripple effect on railroads, distribution centers and trucking will also cost the city tens of millions of dollars. https://loom.ly/XEU5N2Y
