An article about our 'Call to Action: Careers for Next Generation Minerals' event, hosted on the 3rd of July in partnership with the Natural History Museum and TARGET Mineral Resources CDT, is now available on our website! 📰 Read the article here: https://bit.ly/4db4nSt Thank you to everyone who attended our event at the Natural History Museum. We were delighted to welcome over 80 teachers, parents and GCSE, A-Level and University students from across the UK to Earth Hall, and to see them engage with members of academia and industry from across the value chain. Students said they were 'encouraged' to learn about the scale of sustainability work transforming the mining industry, as well as the range of career opportunities available within the sector. They were also 'inspired' by the diversity and passion of our speakers and exhibitors, such as Madeline R. Young, Adriana Merino Zamora, Elly Shaw, Chris Stockey, Alla Dolgopolova, Robin Armstrong, Melanie Cox, Richard Oldcorn, Aymone Schendel, Lisa Saunders FCIPD MA FIQ, Dr Diane Aston FIMMM MWES, Jamie Graham (MIMMM), Sam King, Andrew Fulton, Hannah Higley and Liana Dunstone. For some of the younger students it was their first time learning how 'essential' mining is to our economy, as well as how dedicated the industry is to issues such as decarbonisation, waste recycling, mine closure and regeneration. Their perceptions have "definitely changed” and improved as a result. For those that were more knowledgeable, the event has only 'confirmed' what they like about the industry and that they can “find an interesting and fulfilling career” in it. Thank you to Richard Herrington and Daniel Smith; to our sponsors and exhibitors; to the CMA (UK) team and our volunteers Lily Dickson and Tiffany Sarfo; and to our event partners who helped get the word out to schools, including UGUK University Geoscience UK, the Earth Science Teachers' Association (ESTA), and the UK Mining Education Forum (UKMEF). 📹 Finally, thank you to our event sponsors IOM3 (Institute of Materials, Minerals & Mining), SRK Consulting, and the Camborne School of Mines, University of Exeter. Check out our event video by Critical Productions to hear more about our mission!
