Meet Caitlyn and Sophia, our very own sister act. 👩🏻🤝👩🏼 With Caitlyn working as a Supervisor at Peak Downs and Sophia a Mine Controller at the Integrated Remote Operations Centre in Brisbane, it’s a special treat when they get to work together in person. “Our dad has been in mining since we were little kids, and as I was growing up with Caitlyn I couldn’t help but look up to her,” says Sophia. “I love working with her because she shows me every day that you can achieve anything you set your mind too with the right attitude and the right values.” For Caitlyn, the respect and excitement is mutual. “It’s always fun when anyone from mine control comes to site, but I really enjoy it when I get the chance to work with Sophia – she’s super intelligent and always wants to help others achieve their production goals.” #mining #queensland #womeninmining

"You should listen, ask questions, and embrace the journey." This is the advice offered by Phil, a Heavy Diesel Mechanic from our team at Olympic Dam. Phil began his career as a diesel mechanic in 1994 and has witnessed the remarkable evolution of machinery over the years. He has worked with everything from the LD005, an open cab Caterpillar 980, to the newest LD100, which he recently oversaw as it made its inaugural descent underground. Phil is particularly enthusiastic about the possibilities presented by new hybrid diesel-electric loaders, stating, "I simply enjoy machinery. It's as straightforward as that; even on my days off, I find myself working on something!" #olympicdam #southaustralia #electric

👏 Escondida starts environmental processing to have transportation system based on an electric trolley. 👏 About the project, Alejandro Tapia, President of Escondida, said that "the electric trolley system is one of the initiatives with which we seek to move towards a safer and more sustainable way of operating hand in hand with technology. This project will allow us to reduce the fuel consumption of our extraction trucks and thus advance our goal of net zero operational greenhouse gas emissions by 2050." We are the first customer to announce plans to trial Caterpillar Inc.’s Cat Dynamic Energy Transfer (DET) system on battery electric and diesel electric mining trucks at BHP site. After being launched at MINExpo, the world’s largest mining event, this truck will join BHP’s existing fleet of autonomous CAT-798 AC trucks working at our Escondida mine. BHP’s Chief Commercial Officer, Ragnar Udd, said: “We are pleased to be able to trial this technology, and it is a welcome addition in our plans to enable zero-emissions mining truck deployment at BHP. Innovation and technology will play a crucial role as we work towards BHP’s goal of net zero operational emissions by 2050, and we are determined to keep building Partnerships like this to achieve this objective." Bill's been a lot of things over his life - a volunteer with his local ambulance and fire department, a mine rescue worker and a Safety Specialist at our Jansen potash project.
