  Let your CV breath…🤦♀️ Sometimes your CV may be perfectly fine...… 😊 I’ve seen some applicants get too overstressed on the same CV reviewed by HR Professionals. Know this.. Especially if you have sought for professional help from a trusted resume writer or reviewer… Hear this out loud… Sometimes the problem is not your CV The recruiter and your procrastination may account for not landing interviews ……………………………………………………………. You may like procrastinating .. ❌ You might be fond of not applying early enough ❌ when you see job advertisement. You may be waiting to have lots of vacancies❌ of the same role, to allot one time to apply for all. Some recruiters may also be at fault of not communicating ❌ the right deadlines of application to jobs. They fail to state that those roles need to be filled immediately.❌ ……………………………………………………………. Consider this example; There is the need to fill a role for an accounts manager immediately in a firm. Yet the job advertisement fails to communicate to applicant, that CV’S will be considered on rolling basis, yet the stated deadline and duration of application is a month…Hence, some applicants who procrastinate and apply late, to an extent that some can apply on the deadline date may be disadvantaged... Now the recruiter got 100 applications the first week of receiving applications. The recruiter thinks he has acquired the right pool of qualified CV’S to shortlist from. Now applicants who may also be even more qualified applied later , hoping to be called for interview. Yet this recruiter has already found the ideal candidate. ………………………………………………………………….. Research the organisations dress-code and professional image policy!. 💡 Not all outfits and image embodiment are ideal for interviews!   Every company likely has a dress code policy for interviews…For instance, jeans with a formal tucked in long sleeve could be acceptable for an interview on a Friday, but for some companies, jeans are unacceptable, any day of the week for interviews. 🔍 More so, If you are applying to an organisation that has a religious foundation image to uphold, ensure you embody that image in your outfit when going for the interview. 📌 Let’s consider another example, Imagine a lady applying for a role as a receptionist for an institution that is religiously inclined. If one is not a member of that religious body or cannot embody their core beliefs and professional image, It is not advisable. Kindly research their core values and ensure you align. 🎀 Most religious organisations may have stricter dress-code policies. Revealing outfits, excessive or overly coloured makeup, tight dresses, higher heels can be a great turn off, before your skills can even be considered for some roles. You wouldn’t want to put yourself in a situation of being eliminated unconsciously as a potential candidate due to wrong choice of wardrobe and overall appearance. 📍 However, generally if you are looking forward to score high on professional image on that interview form sheet in the corporate world; ✔ Wear outfits that project the exact role you are applying professionally. ✔ Always ensure your outfit is well pressed and comfortable. ✔ Ensure your undergarments are not revealing or visible. ✔ Avoid too baggy or overly-casual outfits. ✔ Don’t do an overly colourful makeup to an interview, if your role does not call for makeup exhibition or model image. ✔Avoid using overly strong perfume or cologne…Your interviewer could be allergic to strong perfumes. ✔ Ensure your undergarments are not revealing or visible. ✔Please have a good breath...you will be talking considerably more...  I failed to honour a great opportunity… 🤦♀️ So in September 2018, I had a referral appointment for an interview with an FMCG brand. 🔝  A day to the interview, I was sent a gentle reminder on the appointment ✅ Fast forward, I gathered all my documents and other portfolio the day before, The day was finally here, as I did my final preparation during the day and I was in anticipation to ace this interview….At 1:45p.m, I dressed up, took my documents and hit my door. I told myself…’”I should be at this interview before the time at 3p.m”, considering any possible traffic situation. ✅ …………………………………………………………………………………… I suddenly heard a loud cry from the other side of my house… That was a familiar voice of my neighbour close by. The voice was repeatedly screaming in pain. I was curious, and went to the next house. Alarmed, I saw my neighbour in labour pains. 🤰 No one was around, since everyone seam to be gone to work. I reached out to my neighbour and requested for his husband’s contact, surprisingly, the number couldn’t be reached…. Eeeeiiii is it network? called severally, no availability. 😡 This woman will delay me, as I sadly thought…. 😰 I watched the time and it was around 2:20 p.m.… Eventually, I had to go inside her room to get her things to the nearest hospital. Consequently, by the time I had finished all these urgent errands, it dawned on me, I hadn’t call earlier to explain the situation to the interviewer at the moment, as I kept them waiting. Its already late. ❎ 😭 I called back late, after getting the necessary errands done at the hospital, to explain the situation afterwards, but I was told the excuses were irrelevant, and that the opportunity has been given to someone else. Profitably, my neighbour had a safe delivery of a bouncing baby girl.… 💖 Although I lost the opportunity that day, due to my lack of communication at the moment , I felt quite fulfilled extending a hand to an urgent call to humanity…The appreciation from my neighbour's husband and family after they learnt, about my interview schedule, brought unexplainable joy to me. .............................................................. To all who missed or had to sacrifice an opportunity to a genuine urgent situation that benefit loved ones, friends or humanity, …. Everything happens for a reason, More so, learn to communicate early enough, any cause of delay to interview appointment ❗ .....More especially, don’t give up, if you miss one opportunity…Greater opportunities that is meant FOR YOU shall never pass you by!. 💖 #opportunitytoserve #interviewpreparation #communicate #Recruiter #Humanity #HR
