A truly transformative week of deep connections with my cohort both personally and professionally. As we wrapped up the last development week of the Global Graduate Program, the focus was intensely on leading others—not just managing them. Key insights from this week included: Leading vs. Managing: We learned the power of leading by inspiring a sense of ownership and autonomy in our teams. This approach doesn't just manage tasks; it ignites creativity and deepens commitment to our projects, setting the stage for groundbreaking innovations. Promote Deeper Understanding: By adopting a mindset of inquiry, we're equipped to guide our teams through complex problem-solving, uncovering root causes and forging robust solutions. This cultivates a profound level of insight and personal growth among team members. Feedback and Communication Styles: The program taught us the art of tailoring feedback to diverse communication styles, enhancing our ability to foster constructive growth and mutual understanding. This skill is critical in our journey to becoming adept leaders who listen, adapt, and thrive. With these new skills, we're better equipped to lead thoughtfully and effectively as future leaders!

Last Friday, McLaren Racing announced that Lando Norris had extended his contract with the team, keeping the young driver off the market for the foreseeable future. Having raced for McLaren for all his five-year F1 career so far, having first joined their young driver programme as a 17-year-old in 2017, Norris says he saw enough in the team's stunning mid-season turnaround in 2023 to show "we have what it takes to challenge". 🤔 There's no denying it, Lando Norris has become one of the top drivers in F1, in recent years. And it got us thinking about the benefits of loyalty, longevity and the link to high performance. We want to know! Bridgestone Americas BSRO. How is it that you know how the automotive repair industry can be driven by retail standards?? How is it that you know that from one year to the next, you expect to surpass the numbers the next year?? Have anyone of you really been immersed in this industry?? Your degrees you've attained in college, do they really teach you how each industry functions or is it general??? I'd love to impart wisdom to your college education!!! But here lies in the problem, my experience is not worth dirt to what you have been taught by general secularists that are paid to teach you generalities. So herein lies my challenge, come spend three weeks, no a month is a shop and experience the reality of real life. I would gamble that you could not stand to be in the shop at our level!!!

Last year around this time, I was honored to be recognized as Intern of the Month at my previous company, thanks to my innovative thinking and implementation of creative solutions. I'm grateful to YES4Youth for providing me with the Learnership opportunity that helped me develop my skills and gain valuable experience. Fast forward to this year, I'm thrilled to be working at Executive motor world Company, where I quickly introduced a system that has significantly contributed to the company's progress - just a few weeks into my new role! Specifically, I implemented this system in April, and I'm delighted to report that it's working exceptionally well. What's more, the system has gained traction across various departments, including Sales, Agents, who now utilize on it to streamline their processes and enhance productivity. Its adoption company-wide is a testament to the power of innovative thinking and collaboration. I'm thankful to Signa Academy for allowing me to thrive and grow in my role, and to Ciocca Volkwagen for laying the foundation for my success. Interestingly, last week I was assigned a critical task that aligns with the company's development goals, marking a full circle from last year's achievements, which also took place in July. This experience has taught me the value of embracing growth, learning new skills, and implementing innovative ideas. My message is simple: don't hesitate to share your ideas and insights at work. We don’t talk enough about AaaS. 💬   Looking back on my first internship at Mercedes at the start of my career, one of the most important lessons learned was the value of AaaS:    Accountability as a Service.    What that means is that it can be really helpful if someone holds you accountable for results. This person could be your manager, coach, etc. What’s important is that they have a high-quality bar for your contributions and hold you to it. This can feel uncomfortable at times, at least until you realize that this person is performing an incredible service for you. They are not letting you slip in quality and are interested in you maximizing your learning on and off the job. I had that type of manager during my time at Mercedes, and I still benefit from it to this day! You can draw a parallel to a sports coach who helps you reach your full potential—even if that involves discomfort. A coach patting you on the back after a poor performance isn't doing you any favors. The real value comes from the coach who identifies your weaknesses, sets a higher bar, and provides the tough love to get you improving daily. Of course, accountability has to come from a good-faith desire to see you improve. A toxic environment of harsh criticism without any supportive guidance is counterproductive. But when done right, AaaS is an incredible gift that can set you on a growth trajectory.
