Every 30 seconds in PNG, a woman like Eve is attacked*. She faced unimaginable abuse and had no one to turn to. But there’s hope. With the support of IWDA partners, Eve found refuge in a safe house. These safe houses are much more than just shelters; they offer counselling, medical support, legal assistance, and skills training. Eve’s time in the safe house transformed her life. She learned new skills, started a business selling ice blocks, and was able to rebuild her life. Right now, your urgent action is needed. Please donate by June 30 so more women like Eve can find safety and support in safe houses. Every dollar helps turn fear into freedom. 💪 Learn more and donate today: https://loom.ly/Kf-Z4eE *Source: United for Equality PNG Names have been changed for privacy and protection reasons. 📷 credit: Harjono Djoyobisono . . . #SafeHouses #SafetyforAll #Taxtimegiving #GenderEquality

It's great to see additional government funding going towards Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence, yet it cannot and meet the breadth and depth of services that are needed on the ground if we are to curb the trends and keep women and families safe. Sydney Women's Fund is not only advocating for a safe, inclusive, vibrant city, it also supports funding going towards critical grassroots services that remain overwhelmed by demand and under-resourced. They have just launched a campaign to support these organisations and better yet, each dollar you donate will be matched. Now's the time to give and support women and children to have a safe place to go. https://lnkd.in/dCrqp3aa

As the Head of Sydney Women’s Fund, I’m deeply concerned about the lack of funding for frontline services contending with surging demand in the face of the national crisis of domestic and sexual violence. While the latest federal budget contains welcomed investments in women’s safety, it falls short of adequately supporting the services and programs that keep women safe. This disparity poses a significant challenge for organisations working tirelessly to protect and support vulnerable women and families across Greater Sydney. This is why we have launched the Sydney Women’s Fund Domestic Violence Appeal, with an ambitious target of raising $1 million for our grassroots charity partners. This campaign is crucial in light of the escalating need for services that provide emergency assistance, safe housing, trauma recovery support, and pathways to financial independence for women and families escaping violence. Every dollar donated for this campaign is matched up to $700,000 by four of #SydneyWomen’sFund’s major donors, including Wilson Foundation and The Snow Foundation. This support allows us to provide critical funding to organisations like ReLove and Consent Labs, enabling them to deliver essential services and education around changing the culture of sexual consent. While government commitments and positive advancements are commendable, such as the continued Escaping Violence Payment program, and efforts to reduce exposure to detrimental online content, more is urgently required. The reality is that women and children facing violence need immediate action, not prolonged discussions or promises of future support. As leaders in the sector, we recognise that a multifaceted approach is necessary to address the complex issue of violence against women. This includes education on respect, measures to counter destructive influences on social media, and investments in security upgrades to ensure women can stay safely in their homes. The time for action is now. We cannot afford to wait while more women and children remain at risk. I urge individuals and organisations to join us in supporting initiatives like the Sydney Women’s Fund Domestic Violence Appeal. Together, we can make a tangible difference and create safer communities for everyone. Donate Today! https://lnkd.in/gEcHmEbz

What could make a married woman say she is married and a widowed at the same time, could it be economic crunch or something else? Watch the the video and listen. I am sure some of us may have heard about cases of married women claiming to be widows just to be able to get financial help but today we saw 2 cases ourselves. Our organization went for an advocacy visit to a community where we intend to commemorate 2024 international women's day. Part of the visit was to enable us select 20 most vulnerable women that we will be supporting with funds to boost their businesses and large sized umbrellas to shield them from the scorching sun and the forthcoming rain. It was indeed a very emotional moment for us as 2 women out of the women we selected had a peculiar cases, they were both abandoned by their husbands. The first woman said her husband abandoned her with 7 kids to cater for while the 2nd woman said her husband left her with 5 children to fend for. Her own case is a bit more pathetic as she and her kids sleep in a shop. These women are really struggling and the cost of items in the market is al@rming. If you are touched by the plights of these women you can reach out to us through our phone numbers: +23481-17060976 +23481-17420070 kindly support our initiative tagged women rising against poverty (wrap) to support more women to be economically independent and support their families in turn. Human trafficking is born out of and survives on a multitude of factors and systemic failures making it difficult to eradicate. Daughters of Charity in Ecuador understand the solution is not simple and cannot be done alone. Together with local, national, and international actors, Sisters in Ecuador have built a diverse network of organizations to combat human trafficking. A program collaborator reflects on their experience, “The religious and spiritual touch inserted with the presence of the '[Daughters of Charity]' has given strength, forcefulness, value to many of the actions we have taken. I think, without anyone saying it, that the fact they are here has been, for other organizations or for the institutions, a guarantee that the things are real and are going to be achieved.” Together with these collaborators, Sisters have been able to develop programs like business management and entrepreneurship training, human trafficking awareness workshops, gender-based violence prevention workshops, and many others. These programs have had profound impacts on the community, allowing those who live there to grow and thrive. Donate and support ministries of Daughters of Charity around the world. We are for community, by community! Like many from marginalised backgrounds, we know the struggles those in LGBTIQ+ communities face, but we also know that there are additional unique hurdles faced by those from intersecting marginalised backgrounds. Unfortunately for most marginalised communities, it is up to us and our peers to be the leaders of change- and that is exactly what we set out to do. Without funding only so much is possible, and when LGBTIQ+ charities only receive 5cents for every $100 donated to Australian charities, funding for LGBTIQ+ isn't going to change without actively working to make it change- which is where organisations like Aurora come in! Together, we can change the landscape for LGBTIQ+ organisations! [ID: a graphic with a white and pale red gradient background, and bold red text overlaid. It’s crucial to remember that racism and tribalism are hallmarks of a mindset that is enslaved and inferior. These concepts are not inherent to the universal human being, whose mindset is a universe in itself. Racism and tribalism are not just cursed in scientific and philosophical thoughts as barbarian and savagery, but are also condemned in religious beliefs of Christianity and Islam. The marks of inferiority and ignorance are clearly visible in racism and tribalism
Racism, xenophobia & intolerance are problems prevalent in all societies. But everyone can take action to #FightRacism: 🔹 Speak up 🔹 Volunteer your time & skills to organizations addressing racism 🔹 Donate More ways you can help: https://lnkd.in/eGkSCSKK
