According to the World Wide Fund For Nature (WWF), there are estimated over 3,000 tigers left in the wild across the wild. Sadly, the less than 150 remaining wild Malayan tigers, a subspecies native to Peninsular Malaysia, are on the verge of extinction. Swipe left to help protect Malayan tigers from the factors contributing to further decline of the species. Without tigers, a whole ecosystem is a stake. To let the Malayan tigers become extinct in our lifetime is unfathomable, but without active and consistent intervention, it would be our reality. Show your support for our tigers today by participating in the Run For Tigers: Global Tiger Day 2024. Registered today at https://lnkd.in/gAQpXhqv For every registration, RM10 will be donated to WWF-Malaysia in support of tiger conservation efforts in Belum-Temengor. #RunforTigers #Tigerconservation #GlobalTigerDay

Support and rehabilitation for exploited elephants in Thailand 💙🐘 Elephants have always been a deep source of inspiration for us. Their independence, reliability, consistency and strength influence our daily actions. This makes it all the more heartbreaking to see so many of these majestic animals living in captivity and being exploited. Especially Thailand has a long history of elephant exploitation, whether for transportation, warfare, logging or the tourist industry, elephants have been exploited for hundreds of years. There are approximately 3,500 – 4,000 elephants living in captivity in Thailand, while the wild elephant population (btw. 3,000 – 3,700) is declining every year. For those reasons we have chosen to work with the non-profit organisation Somboon Legacy Foundation to help protect this endangered species. Based in the Kanchanaburi province of Thailand, the foundation’s mission is to rescue and rehabilitate elderly elephants from a life of stress, suffering and exploitation, and to allow them to age with dignity in a species-appropriate habitat. The Foundation is currently caring for three elephants: Kammoon (aged 80-85), Malee (aged 85-90) and Kham Phaeng (60+). We are honoured to contribute financially to this meaningful cause. Our partnership will help support their initiatives, including rescue operations, rehabilitation programmes, and educational efforts to promote ethical wildlife tourism. TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE! Help Stella and 250 rescued wild animals about to lose their only safe home! Stella, a slow loris, is one of 250 rescued wild animals facing eviction from a wildlife sanctuary in Laos, Southeast Asia. She was shot 11 times by poachers attempting to capture her for the Asian bushmeat trade. The sanctuary, run by the Lao Conservation Trust for Wildlife (LCTW), provides shelter and care to animals rescued from traumatic and brutal situations such as poaching, the illegal pet trade, and the bear bile trade. But the people who own the sanctuary’s land want it back – and LCTW has to vacate by JUNE. That’s just four months to prepare a brand-new sanctuary and build safe, spacious enclosures for all the animals. The good news is that LCTW has secured new land but the bad news is that they are short of funds to build enclosures. Each enclosure costs between $10,000 and $20,000, and we need to help to fund 17. If the funds aren’t raised in time, the animals will have to remain locked in cramped cages – potentially re-traumatizing them after all they’ve endured – until the money CAN be raised. We MUST prevent this. Please, help give the animals a new home by donating now and sharing this post. Donate here: https://bit.ly/ASI_LCTW_L #AnimalSurvivalInternational #ASI #WildlifePreservation #WildlifeConservation #Wildlife #LCTW #WildlifeTrafficking #AsianWildlife #Laos #WildlifeRehabilitation
Hundreds of rescued wild animals are about to lose their home – please help relocate them before it's too late!

Every April 22nd, people worldwide come together to commemorate #EarthDay, which originated in 1970 as a pivotal moment in the modern environmental movement. This global celebration serves as a reminder of the urgent need for a sustainable lifestyle that benefits both humanity and the planet. It calls upon us to live in harmony with nature and prioritize the health of our Earth. In response to Earth Day, the Foundation for the Preservation of Wildlife and Cultural Assets (FPWC) has launched a month-long campaign. During this period, individuals can actively support FPWC's tree planting initiative by simply sending an SMS and donating to contribute to tree planting efforts. The process is straightforward: If you are in #Armenia, one SMS equals one tree, equating to 500 AMD. By texting the number 7733, you can help FPWC plant a tree in Armenia. And if you wish to plant more trees, you can simply send more messages! If you send more than 20 SMS, you are already planting a small forest ;) – and we will say thank you with a nice FPWC gift and a certificate. If you are somewhere else on our beloved planet, just visit fpwc.org/donate for more options. We started this SMS campaign in 2021, and every year more people join us to donate to plant trees. In autumn, during the best planting time, we will plant the trees you donated. FPWC is pioneering a community-based reforestation project, introducing innovative technology in Armenia to cultivate tree species that are typically challenging to grow using traditional methods. Beyond mitigating climate change through reforestation efforts, forests and trees play a crucial role in supporting wildlife food security and nutrition. Consequently, these actions can alleviate human-wildlife conflicts by providing wildlife with essential nutritional resources. Over the past years, FPWC has successfully planted over 450,000 trees in the Vayots Dzor region, and we are heading to achieve 2,000,000 in the next five years.

Even on any ordinary day, this would be a gorgeous sight to see... fish aggregating and feeding on a healthy reef in Raja Ampat. So why then, are we pointing it out (apart from it just being pretty)? Well, these fish are aggregating on a RESTORED reef. A reef that was once a degraded area of coral rubble. And what's even more important and interesting, is that these are fish that are those that are exploited by humans for eating. Access to an abundance of fish underpins the lives of Raja Ampat's local communities in small villages scattered across the archipelago. In some places, for multiple reasons, fish stocks are lower than before, causing fisherman to have to travel further for fish, increasing time, fuel and effort required. So for us, it's incredible to see Yaf Keru bringing back life and attracting these kinds of fish to reefs close to communities. And whilst this particular restored site is at a location were fishing does not occur (in accordance with regulations from the local community), it helps serve as a place to attract and protect grazing fish and molluscs, which then attract larger predatory fish... which can then lead to overstock and overflow into areas where local community members DO fish. The Yaf Keru Reef Restoration and Conservation program is not just about beautification; but rather rebuilding ecosystems, supporting local communities, and helping safeguard ecosystem benefits (like food!) into the future. Restored reefs can become crucial sanctuaries, nurturing marine life that spills over to fishing grounds, sustaining both people and nature. And this cycle of life, from degraded reef, to healthy reef, to abundant fish stocks to supporting communities, showcases the power of restoration and the urgent need for our collective action! Want to Help? Your support can help us restore and protect Raja Ampat's reefs - each donation received breathes life into our restoration program, empowering us to expand our reach, and to restore and protect even more reefs. For every €18 received, we can restore an additional 1sqm of degraded reef, protect 1sqm of primary healthy reef, whilst supporting livelihoods for local community members. To support our efforts please consider a contribution to our efforts, and donate here: https://lnkd.in/d8eYnxsN 🙏 #coral #coralreef #marineconservation #localcommunity #fisheries Music: Les FM Accoustic Guitar

As part of our work with Global Salmon Initiative (GSI), we’ve recently launched an ESG feed risk assessment tool, developed in collaboration with World Wildlife Fund (WWF), that addresses a key challenge in agricultural sustainability: the current lack of transparency in feed supply chains. By fostering greater transparency, the tool aims to help companies identify and mitigate possible ESG risks, leading to more ethical and environmentally friendly practices. This represents a significant advancement in responsible sourcing within the animal feed industry, serving as a blueprint for other animal protein sectors to follow. For a deeper dive into how this tool is driving industry-wide accountability, we encourage you to explore the WWF case study here: https://lnkd.in/dwFmnVg3 Read the full press release here: https://lnkd.in/d9wciJ4B

Yesterday many big garden centres (including B&Q) teamed up with environmental charities, nursery owners and growers to ask Keir Starmer to put an end to peat sales as soon as possible 🛑 The Peat-free partnership included signatures from: - Chris Packham - Alys Fowler - B&Q - The Co-op - Dave Goulson - Guy Shrubsole - Plantlife - Buglife - The National Trust - Soil Association Plus many more! The Peat-free Partnership is funded by Esmée Fairbairn Foundation and hosted by the wild plant conservation charity Plantlife. Why do our peatlands need protecting? - These wetland habitats make up around 12% of the UK land area - They support amazing biodiversity - They help tackle climate change due to their ability to store carbon. - It is believed that UK peatlands store over 3 billion tonnes of carbon! Peat was a popular choice for gardeners as well as a heat source for many homes. Great work by the Peat-Free Partnership - and all the people/organisations who've collaborated to get this letter out there! 💪 #peatfree #endpeatsales #climatechange #biodiversity

Koalas are one of Australia’s most iconic species. Yet, populations are suffering a serious decline due to habitat loss, disease, bushfires, and road accidents. Between 2018 and 2021, Australia lost 30% of its koala population and the species is now officially extinct in 47 electorates. Some remaining populations are estimated at just 5–10 koalas. Fortunately, charities are working hard to bring the beloved koala back from the brink of extinction. So, we had to ask: What are the best charities that help koalas? 👇 https://lnkd.in/gachPyjU Australian Koala Foundation (AKF), Friends of the Koala, Landcare Australia, Wildlife Warriors, Greenfleet, Aussie Ark, Koala Clancy Foundation, ifaw, Koala Conservation Australia #charitysupport #koalas #wildlife #wildlifeprotection #endangeredspecies
